Weird statistic, but the Maddison comparison is apt. The question every season is: will the new players effectively replace those leaving? Madders left, but the team fared far better without him. Will the players coming in this season effectively replace those leaving? That we won't know for some time. Having read the scouting report on Placheta DH included above, I'm hopeful that he'll bring a new dimension to our play with his pace and tactical nous but we won't know until we see him in action. The same with Dowell, Sørensen, McCallum, Sinari, Sitti and Mumba. We've seen glimpses of Idah and Martin in cameo appearances and now Famewo and Thompson have made their debuts, but will they push on now or go out on loan? It's what makes the start of a new season come alive.
