Ok even if you boys aint into Scarface (fcking heathens that you are), the point still stands about Godfather and Goodfellas. It's the same with Ben Hur and Gladiator.

You an old ****er like me or just have good taste?

I'm from an era where as a young tike in the 80's you sat and watched what your parents did on 4 channels and learned to appreciate the classics when they came on telly.

Another one in the same mould, I'd put Cleopatra - Rex Harrison, the late great Richard Burton, busty Liz Taylor as one of the best films ever made.

And then there's your other classics like Lawrence of Arabia. That film is just majestic. Just the opening scene at the well is worth watching more than most other movies. Incredible film.
Nope the best opening is Saving Private Ryan...

It's brutal, still a good film, but those first 10/15 mins...

Why does everything have to be about being the best though?

SPR opening is tremendous. But I also rate LOA opening for different reasons. It's cinematography is superb.

Strange as i've forgotten it, but remember SPR.

Btw Blackkklansman was a very good watch. Washington is good but I'm impressed by Adam Driver each time I see him. Such a top actor.

When i was a kid i saw the original version of "The thing", never understood why it struck me so hard until years later.
It was the first ever film to use multi-track audio in a scene (the one where the try to electrocute it in the corridor), up to that point all you had were single voices speaking lines.
Strange how something like that can make something much more realistic.

I've seen the original but didnt know that about the audio.

You've reminded me about Forbidden Planet. Such a good film, watching it as a kid and later when I'd grown up still good. My kids won't watch it though. New generation are missing out mate.

I was just trying to think if it's ever been remade? It'd be a good one to do in the right hands (not fcking JJ Abrahms).
