    Ok lads.

In response to the feeling of a large number of Sunderland fans, we are going to trial the option of 'Mag Free' threads.

Similar to the 'Off Topic' threads, that are non-football related, and tagged so easily spotted by people who only wish to discuss football, if it's marked 'Mag Free', any NUFC supporters posting will be removed , regardless of content.

Mags are welcome on all other threads, this step is purely for SAFC fans who wish to have SAFC banter without intrusion.

I ask both sets of fans to respect this, and acknowledge that we are only doing this so that posters who would prefer this option, have it.

It IS only an option, and i speak for pleanty of the SAFC lads when i say many of us will continue to partake in the banter with you, that said, i'm certain i'll dip my toe and enjoy the SAFC only craic as well.

Best solution we can think of at this time, any thoughts or comments on this, stick them on here, and i promise to reply to all posts.

    All the best lads.

    BB

Not thrilled by the perceived need for this, but if it'll stop the tit for tat abuse that clogs up some threads then OK by me.

    From now Comm aye.

It's a simple, if not ideal solution.

Ironically, would benefit from a few Mags input and acknowledgment here!

I personally think it's a stupid idea as we're all adults. I'd understand deleting the wum comments but caging people away from certain threads just seems like, I don't know, a less intelligent way to solve the 'issue'. It's a dire shame people can't essentially look after themselves and need intervention like a bunch of schoolchildren.

This is a universal football forum. Sunderland and the Sunderland fans don't 'own' the Sunderland section. Every member is just as entitled as the next to post on any forum they wish. Well, that was true until today at least.

Funny that this sub-forum has went from one of the most open and tolerant to arguably one of the most restricted as fans of other teams are banned from some threads even if they want to join in with normal discussion and debate.

But hey ho, the mods have spoken. It'll be interesting to see who uses it. I'll certainly respect it as I frankly don't care enough to attempt to disrupt it.

    Chappaz,

It's important that you don't say 'the mods have spoken'.

We recieve PM's from people accross the board, our role is to make it accesible to as many as possible.

You'll find ALL of the SAFC mods welcome input from NUFC lads, but our job is to please as many as possible.

Realistically, i'd imagine there will only be the odd 'Mag Free' thread, and I, the other mods, and a large percentage of the SAFC fans will continue to welcome, banter, and debate with your lads.

I think you ae proving why it is a good idea mate. So much of what you say is wrong, I know that because I get to deal with the many, many requests to ban from the site and a board, it happens every single day but has never happened on here, one of the very few I should add.

Just checked my mailbox, 8 ban requests this week and its only Thursday.

    Syd's right Chappaz,

All we are doing, is giving people the choice, surely that's fair?

We don't wanna alienate ANYBODY hence the vast majority of threads will not be tagged.

I'm sorry mate but that's ridiculous...

Soon enough every thread on your board will be marked "mag free" and we both know it.

Not exactly still an open forum if this happens.

I don't think so mate, to be honest.

I'd say 70% of the lads won't use the option, we will see how it goes.

Remember, a massive portion of us enjoy the rivalry, debate, and even the wind ups, that percentage won't change, IMO.

There is no better solution at this point, if you have one, we'll listen <ok>

    A solution for what though?

A few people can dish the dirt but can't take it and all this drama ensues...

Just think there are a few people exaggerating.

Hope you're right and not too many threads contain "mag free" in the title...

You can take my word on that, as it's these people we are trying to help out.

Look, throw us a bone like, we are providing this for a minority of SAFC fans who would enjoy the option.

I'd reckon easily 90% of threads will remain open to all.

What a ridiculous idea for an "open" forum!
Is a ban on Newcastle fans looking at the Sunderland sub section coming up next ?
Maybe start forcing members to choose the team they support and only allow them to see there sub section.

This is the problem, you comment and make statements that are untrue, a few people, how many, I know do you? People who dish the dirt but cant take it, what dirt is that and who are these people, I know, do you.
