Zlatan was the master of it, starts by getting his home town promoted and then: 13 titles in 15 years for 6 different clubs in 4 different countries. Then off to Man Utd to win a couple of trophies, then to the USA (In his first year, he was named in the MLS All-Star and MLS Best XI, and was awarded the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award and MLS Goal of the Year.). Then at the age of 38 going back to Milan and scoring 10 goals in 18 games... and still going.
Couple of lovely little pits stops in there, I’d missed out Amsterdam. Not to keen on Paris like. Amazing place just gets on my tits. Swap them for Lyon, as Lyon is scran heaven
To me, that's pretty much the career I'd have dreamed of. He's actually 28 days older than me, maybe i still have time.
Prefer Real to Barca, Barca a better city I just don’t like the football club and the absolute arsehole nature of it. Made allowances only for Ronaldinho and Xavi, who you couldn’t not have love for.
PFA says salary caps in Leagues One and Two are “unlawful and unenforceable” and has served notice of arbitration on the EFL. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ue-two-clubs-pass-vote-to-bring-in-salary-cap
The EFL are shocking. Clubs shouldn't need a law/rule to run within their means. Football is about winning but it's also a business and a very important part of people's lives. Just run the club sensibly within a budget.
why should we have the same squad as a team getting a 3,000 average. what about sponsors ? Man u get about £90m a season from theirs, can a player earn money separetly from a sponsor. Yet Man c Man u etc can spend what they like.
I'm getting really sick of the fact that, effectively the EFL have to pander to the small clubs (because they put every ****ing thing to a vote and most of the clubs are small). If Accrington Stanley are worried about sustainability they can cap their own wage bill at £2.5m if they want, but expecting every club to accept a limit which is affordable for the lowest turnover club in the league is a joke. They've already got SCMP which limits wages to a % of turnover. As its normally the biggest cost, that's obviously the way of going about it. Just enforce or tweak that, rather than ****ing the whole league up to keep the **** clubs happy. Hopefully it's challenged, hopefully it's scrapped, and hopefully we get out of this pitiful little league before they vote some other absolute bollocks through. Always used to quite like the smaller clubs, now I genuinely couldn't give a **** if any of them went bust. It would be a shame for their fans, but the clubs are a set of arseholes. If we get back to the prem and have to vote on something that could **** the smaller clubs over, like allowing streaming of all games at 3pm on a Saturday, **** it, vote for it, they can **** off.
Surely they cannot do this, how can they penalise clubs the size of ours with the support we get and are far bigger than even championship teams. Sunderland, Portsmouth, Ipswich should fight this all the way. Seems the EFL just get teams to vote to save their own deficiencies through not having the balls to make a call
Here goes, I am going to say that this is a good idea and might work for us and make the club more valuable. on a pure business model, if we cut our running costs on players from £12m to2,5m we become a profitable club and hence a more scalable asset. We will have a large war chest to pay large promotion bonuses to players hence giving them a very clear incentive to win. We could even offer a bonus of 300% of salary if we get out of this league. Promotion bonus payments are excluded from the cap. we have a number of players on well over the cap, but at they will be counted as £1500 paw until their contracts end we have run for up to four players on £4500 pew. This gives room to bring in the quality needed. This does mean we would be gambling on promotion this season. U21 players don’t count, if we had not run the academy into the ground we could hold onto young players paying them more until they reach 22. We might also have the funds to invest in the academy again. Also let’s face it £130,000 a year to play football at third tier level is not a bad wage.
Maybe the efl should harden their fit and proper persons test and stop these chancers that put clubs into trouble instead of treating clubs like ours who can be sustainable with the crowds that we get albeit with a hard work during these hard times and also me as a fan think that these two bob bit clubs can go **** theirselves as we’ve been done up like a kipper twice with the voting system
I don't particularly disagree with you but to have that choice taken away by a bunch of inept fools just isnt fair. (Trying not to sound like a spoilt child)
Like I’ve said, the solution is already partially in place. FFP says only a certain percentage of your turnover can be spent on wages. The legal and easily implementable way to work this is to lower that percentage. It’s not even funny how inept the EFL are and that this wasn’t the route chosen.
This is wrong. This could send us to the point of no return. Has anybody thought about what happens when the current contracts expire? Hey Goochy, I know you’ve been collecting 10k every week, but would you like a new shiny contract that says we will pay you 2 grand a week now? So I guess we’ll just lose these players if a team from a different league comes in for them? That’ll help balance the books. I’m struggling to see how some weeks we could pull in over 40 thousand through the turnstile and expect to compete on the same financial footing as the likes of Burton Albion, who have no incoming revenue apart from a couple thousand tickets and a few pork pies that they sell on match day.
Its totally wrong mate. However it would have to a team from a higher league that buys our players if they were to get a higher wage. I think we are safe. How the EFL thought this was legal just because a few ****house clubs voted for it beggars belief.
This is the problem. It’s like someone telling me I have to go and live in a 50k house in a run down village as somebody else does, it’s not remotely real world. They are effectively telling clubs like us, Portsmouth and Ipswich, that we haven’t as say as a business how we spend our income. How they can get this so wrong blows my mind, do they think that clubs are just gonna leave the money sitting in clubs accounts? That wouldn’t happen. Owners would take the money out of the clubs and it would be further financial loss to the game. Its all well and good for Burton, Fleetwood etc with small grounds and no assets. It’s almost like an enforced sanction on us with much higher gate receipts being the tip of the iceberg. We’ve the biggest sponsorship in the league, the biggest kit deal, we’ve far more secondary sponsors and partners than anyone else in the league, we sell more merchandise, buy more drinks and catering in the stadium. We will feature on Sky more than any other side in the league. Our income even at its dramatically reduced level would piss all over anyone’s, it’s not unrealistic to say our income would be equal to probably half the league, Portsmouth wouldn’t be a million miles behind us. It’s already been written off as illegal and unenforceable by the PFA but the club need to be taking further steps. The clubs that have agreed it are the tinpot clubs that are just happy to be in the football league and will never be any higher than league one. It’s crippling ambition for those that want to climb. It’s 5-6 games gate receipts for us from a 23 game season (at home)
Nah, it's a **** idea and it won't make Sunderland more valuable at all. What it does is means we can't spend more on wages than a club getting a 3,000 average when we can get 30,000. So why bother coming to us? What incentive can we offer a player based on the South coast to up sticks and move his entire family up north? Or even from the north west. No ****ing incentive at all as money talks and everything else is ****e. And how are we supposed to renew the contracts of academy graduates like Gooch? We wouldn't be able to. We can't offer half the ****ing squad the same terms they are on now. The only 'cheat' seems to be offering bonuses based on cup progression or promotion, none of which are a guarantee, they're a potential. It's small time as **** and personally, will laugh my cock off if any of those clubs that voted for it go bust. **** them.
