Understandable in my opinion. People shorten 'would have' to 'would've which begins to sound like 'would of'.

Improper use of apostrophes, on the other hand, is unforgiveable.

    Colloquialism doesn't equate to illiteracy.

Some stuff, I can find a little jarring but I'm probably going to just going to go about living my life.

I studied creative writing at uni and work as a copywriter, in my spare time I write awful, awful long form stuff which will only make it as far as my desk drawers.

I was taught academically and professionally that, as a general rule, the only bad writing is writing that doesn't communicate what it is supposed to.

Not something I am too fussed about on a forum. If I mistype something, it's usually because I'm on my phone and fat fingers /auto-correct get in the way. Or I'm pissed and my brain/transmitters/fingers are dysfunctional.

Some folk may be dyslexic. If they're illiterate, offer them some support. They may not have been fortunate enough to make the most of the education system.

I've got five books in print and 20 odd peer-reviewed scientific/academic journal articles. Doesn't make me immune from crap writing though. Quite often what you think you've written isn't what you actually have written. When you've got an editor, your mistakes get picked up. They don't get picked up on an online football forum.

Having said that, one of my big things is making my subject interesting and accessible to the general public. I often have to deal with the work of other people who write so badly (even if it is scientifically accurate) that it makes the subject boring even to me. Surely, anything you write, you want people to engage with.
