yeah new drivers limited to 45 is bollocks. i regularly hit 60 and 70 when i was learning and would be mightily pissed off i was forced to go so slow..i'd end up catching a bus
wtf is a speed limit ? I was in the fast lane doing 176km/h when a speedie(traffic cop on a bike) flew up behind me and flashed his headlight no blues so i pulled over and left him overtake me to which he flashed his hazards as a thank you I later found out that the Gardaà change shift at 21:45 and as this was around 21:35/37 ish there was no way he was stopping me and getting landed with paperwork.
I was on the autobahn once, doing just over 100mph, I thought I was pure gallus until this **** in a BMW went flying past me
Yes silly me I got pulled over for speeding (45 in a 30) and he never said anything about the R plates despite looking at my license that was only 4 moths old. Did get a £60 fixed penalty though
I always drive at 90mph* on the motorways/dual carriageways. I'm amazed that I hardly ever get overtaken, maybe one car will go past me in an hour. Doesn't feel fast. *70mph really occifer
I don't have a real problem with raising the motorway limit to 80mph. I find that it's idiotic town driving ( by other motorists ) that causes most of my grief. I have researched the statistics - which show that travelling at 40mph instead of 30 increases your chances of a fatal accident by a factor of 10. Also most fatal accidents occur within 1.5 miles of your home - NOT on motorways. These figures show just how bad we are at driving on the way to the shops / school run - so there may be an argument for raising the motorway limit. Safe driving everyone!
My mate was caught doing 110 mph on the m4, but the police only gave him a warning. He got points on his licence for driving too quickly in a car park though, so the speed has dropped slightly now. He rarely exceeds 90 these days.
he was caught late at night, i don't think the copper could be bothered to fill out all of the forms to penalise him.
