Either Cameron Carter-Vickers or Mike van der Broom would be my choice for CB, with the latter being slightly favourite because of his age (27) and his 4 years of Championship experience with Swansea, but apparently there's a lot of competition.

I understand, Rick, we're all just giving our opinions from outside the room.

Also early on in the negotiations we could show a strong interest in Larouchi if we don't actually want him. Liverpool will want to say he's worth as much as possible in order to reduce the cash they pay for Lewis. Then towards the end of negotiations decide we don't want Larouci and ask for the value Liverpool put on him in cash. If we do ultimately want Larouchi then early on we would show little or not interest in him and agree his value to us is as little as possible, get the most cash we can for Lewis and take Larouci as late as possible. As you say lots of guessing without knowing what our bottom line is for Lewis or whether or not we actually want Larouchi it's almost impossible to judge things from what's in the public arena. But you can bet your bottom dollar Webber will be doing his absolute hard nosed best especially when dealing with Liverpool. I don't doubt he has ambitions of being Chief Exec at Liverpool at some time in the future and will see any dealings with Liverpool as a test.

    <applause> Well said, CC.
If he can get the full asking price, they may [eventually] see that as a tick on his already blossoming C.V.

Depends really on who we are looking to replace. Assuming of course we are looking to replace someone rather than add. Of our CB's I'd be happy to lose Klose and replace him with VD Broom or someone similar. If Godfrey goes then I think we should be looking at someone like Carter-Vickers. Maybe both !!!!

Yes, Gary sums it up well. There's another factor though. If we let Jamal go for £10-12m, we send a signal that our other prize players are available on the cheap. Emi looks to be the next, with the national papers repeating that we only paid £1.3m for him, ignoring the £4.5m bonus we paid when we were promoted. Leeds are likely to make a derisory offer, especially if we cave in to Liverpool.

Does Mike van der Broom play as a sweeper? Judging by our defending over the last several seasons, we could certainly do with one.

Dubious journalist on twitter suggesting we want Harry Wilson on loan from Liverpool. Can't see it being real.

Leeds appear to be making a move for Wilson for £15m. Should cover the cost of Jamal Lewis. Daily Mail and The Sun are the distinguished sources of this rumour so it must be true.

Harry Wilson must be getting pretty fed up I would have thought. He surely needs a permanent move.

Described as a winger. We have Hernandez and Placheta, do we need another?Have I missed anybody? Getting lost with all the coming and possible goings.

Cantwell, Rupp, Martin and both Sinani and Dowell can also play on the flanks. Wouldn't say it's our most imperative need. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I like Lewis but he was at fault for a lot of set piece goals as he's very lightweight especially in the air .
He's more of a wing back that likes to get forward but last season he only registered 1 goal and zero assists .

About £15m seems about right if we can get a player thrown in too then great.

‘Oh my lord’, ‘need to get’: Some Arsenal fans eager for club to sign £5,000-a-week defender
    Giuseppe Labellarte

A number of Arsenal fans have urged the club to move for Max Aarons in case Hector Bellerin leaves, in wake of a report suggesting the Gunners full-back is open to new challenge.

Aarons, meanwhile, has been one of Norwich’s standout players over the past two seasons, helping the Canaries to the Premier League and showing he’s suited to the top flight despite relegation.

The 20-year-old right-back, who is under contract at Carrow Road until 2024 on £5,000-per-week, according to Spotrac, is reported by The Express to have a £30million price tag. <doh>
