This is what I’ve been trying to say for the last two days (your not a toon fan but I respect your opinions). It makes no difference any of this if PIF are looking at it commercially. We can do the protests, the mp letters, the petitions till the cows come home it makes no difference. It just makes us look desperate (we are by the way). If PIF have walked away it’s over. AS can rally the troops all she wants but she doesn’t have the money. RB can stoke the fire but they don’t have the liquid cash or appetite for risk. If they did they wouldn’t just put 10% up. It’s this simple, if PIF are out. The PL elite have won. Masters won’t say anything and the government won’t bat an eyelid!
Something just isn't right, but like I say I couldn't care which set of arseholes is responsible because they outcomes the same...
If the article is correct that piracy stopped the takeover then why can’t the EPL say that. Also why can’t they say why it took 17 weeks to decide that which they knew at the start. What of the claims by Saudi to have blocked piracy and the fact that piracy has yet to be proven in court? A crap speculative article.
It’s pretty simple - by rejecting they invite legal action. By procrastinating and hiding behind endless questions they can’t be challenged.
A way more eloquent response than mine! I'm done with this for now, I'm worn out with the never ending hope that one day my beloved NUFC will be resurected from the ashes of Ashley's tenure...
And a big thank you goes to Chippy for Immediately raising the quality of the discussion with that brilliant insightful point...
Carnival was absolutely calculated, it’s bound to recover somewhat significantly so it’s a no-brainer. The scale of the investment for Newcastle even over 10 years could end up being less than 1.5-2bn and you can see with the likes of City and PSG (who we’re both absolute no-mark clubs before they were acquired) what the platforms like PL and CL can do to raise the profile of the owners in a good light. As soon as they come up against any sort of resistance it’s stamped on and squashed like a bug and disappears. That’s why I was against Stan’s theory, there’s no way they were buying the club to sit and be frugal, they stood to gain much more for their own brand by losing money in this investment, as it essentially validates them as modern/forward thinking/empathetic... all the things that they aren’t. Priceless.
So should we just wrap up this whole thread and takeover with bubble wrap and say. It looked nice from the outside but when we opened it it smelled bad.
KSA pursue people around the world to carry out 'hits' (allegedly.) Does anyone seriously think they would walk away from a business deal and lose face? Not the Saudi way.
Or 3. Staveley made some off-the-cuff comments in her disappointment at hearing PIF were pulling out, which has thousands of people wasting their time filling in petitions and emailing their MPs. Don’t worry I filled in the petition as well.
This The question remains why wasn't it failed.. Its fairly obvious to me, but like I say the premier leagues plan laid off... PIF had time to think **** this.
They did it last month in Indonesia on investment in a US$5.5billion refinery upgrade project which would have guaranteed sales and processing of 260000Barrels of oil per day. Reason giving - it no longer appealed to them financially. Its not gone down well at all with the government and state oil company here. They are just business people. It's ridiculous to think that they go round assassinating people when business deals fall though.
