Well we had a good move into their box and Samaras somehow contrived to pass it straight to an Udinese player. It's not so much his performance on this cameo. It's more an accumulation of utter ****eness
It is like he hasn't played football before. It just wasn't a pen, so to blame Hooper is unfair. He played ok in my opinion. He ran the right lines and pushed in the right places. It was a good performance.
What the **** was going through his head then? Instapass 3 yards to an udinese player? Anyone who has ever played football in their life is playing Bangura through aswell, easy. I suppose he did set up a good chance for hooper/ki.
Oh well. Let's look on the bright side. I thought we played quite well at times tonight. Our defense held tight and but for a couple of cracking saves from their goalie we could have won the game. Bangura did a good shift and Wanyama put in a few vital tackles in midfield. I think of that performance Zaluska hasn't done his chances of getting into the first team harm. Overall, the players looked hungry and determined which seems to have been missing for much of this season.
All-in-all, I can't really argue with the result though it was disappointing that we didn't hold out. Udinese didn't have many clear-cut chances and we had opportunities to score but were not clinical enough in the final delivery of the ball. Their goalkeeper seems to be a class act and certainly saved them a couple of times. Some positives from the game: Very impressed with Victor Wanyama -quick, strong and persistent in the tackle and can pass a ball - would like to see him get a run of games. Early days for Mohamed Bangura but would also like to see him given a lot more game-time as I think he looks like a good prospect. I think someone should have a word in young James Forrest's ear though - he is certainly a great prospect but his final decision-making was poor on too many occasions - spending too long on the ball and trying to manoeuvre a shot at goal when he could have split the defence with a pass.
I'd pretty much go along with that. I thought Wanyama did exceptionally well. Pissed that Ledley's injured though.
Thought individually all players played well , just as a team we seem disjointed, lots of pluses tonight espically victor. What annoyed me tonight the fans never said a word until they had a chance to abuse sammy, not a murmour when his great cut back set up Hooper .That awful penalty decision brings it to three of the worst penalties I've seen awarded against Celtic have been for Italian teams ,Udinese tonight , Juventus and Ac Milan all late on when the their teams required them .Who says football isn't corrupt!!!!
Rebel, I was at the game and the crowd was poor until the GB started baiting the home fans (can you here the Celtic sing ...no. no...) well that was what I heard anyway!
Isn't it strange that you get all these foreign referees awarding penalties against you but when it comes to the SPL you get record penalties awarded to you. Too right when you say football is corrupt. Reminds me of the one that you got at Ibrox last season which would have won you the game that the SPL so obviously wanted you to win. That's the only reason I can see that penalty being awarded at that time in the match because it was never a penalty in a month of Sundays.
Why do Celtic always get hard done by penalty decisions in europe ??? Here goes .Champion league 1/ man utd giggs 2/ man utd maloney hand ball 3/ arsenal eduardo dive 4 lyon balde hand ball 5/ juventus amaruso dive (ball 20 yards over his head)6/ac Milan another dive (ball 10 yards over his head 7 anderlecht balde running ball out of play 8/ braga ki hand ball !! Even in Europa league Utretch got two dodgy pens + last night , maybe Scottish refs are not that bad!!!
I noticed the ref was really badly positioned for a lot of things last night. ~Except for the penalty he gave to them.
4 lyon balde hand ball Why was that hard done by? the idiot stuck his hand up beside his heid and the ball hit it. The ref was never happy about our and was delighted to be able to give them a pen too, we should have killed the game off as poured this forward looking for a goal but a few wrong desicions and doggy passes and you can only blame Samaras. I know what Lennon was thinking with Samaras but he's under so much pressure all of his own making and hasn't got the bottle, time to drop him.
That's what pissed me off. He clearly didn't want to give us a penalty and it was only because the extra official or linesman insisted that he was forced to.
That night in Lyon remember the penalty we were denied with Sutton , I think is the reason I put it in there , you have to agree we've been unlucky with penalty decisions against us
It's a conshpurashy so it is byraway. This is typical of the Tim mindset, disregard all the fortunate decisions that you get and focus on the bad ones, like Nakamuras freekick dive v Man U, like Thomson free kick v Rosenberg so on and so forth. Like we always tell you, these things even themselves out
