We’re obviously looking to bring in one striker, our budget wouldn’t allow two and with Bamford doing the ‘other stuff’ well I can’t see how we can sell either of these two. We desperately need our new striker to be a success, we need Bielsa to believe they are a better option than Bamford. I feel Tyler Roberts progress is a bit slow too, he isn’t a 10 and if we get the young Geldhart from Wigan I’d prefer to see him developed. Hold on to Bamford for now, see where we are at come the next transfer window then consider cashing in on him? Thoughts anyone?
Good morning rustic I would let Robert's go as he dos not seem to have progressed very much if he struggled in the championship he's not much chance in the prem
I think we have to keep all strikers at the club. We need more in. Regarding first team we HAVE to replace Bamford in the starting XI. We will go straight back down if we keep missing chances. Bamford will have to stay for this season. He could come off the bench for a year. Get rid next summer. Roberts is neat and tidy but not sure he will go on and have a career in the PL. Hopefully he can put the injuries behind him for a year and we can see if he can improve. Get rid next summer if he hasn't made an impact.
Roberts isnt a Premier League striker or a Premier League 10 and has hardly played in the 3 seasons since we spent a lot of cash on him. He didnt even do that well for the 23s..... for me we should offload Tyler. We need a new striker who hits the target more than Bamford, we just have to otherwise we will struggle. So a new top striker to come in and once up to speed be the starting striker with Bamford on the bench along with young Joe Gelhart
I’d offload bamford if we could get Two replacements, as we were short of cover for a player in my opinion who wasn’t good enough anyway for the league he was inlast year. If he stays as cover, fine. At least we have shape with him on the pitch. Roberts? I hoped he’d show a bit more this year and he has foreshawesque fitness problems... but he’s only 21 guys, I think some of the comments on here are a bit harsh. He has plenty of talent.
milky I agree hes only young at 21 but there are players at 17, q18, 19, & 20 who are demanding fees of over £20m look at Johnathan David a baby yet will be sold for £30m minimum. The club had high hopes for him and given him 3 years and hes had half a dozen good games and 60% of the time on the treatment table. Im not being a nasty twat but at a time when our biggest transfer was £2.5m and we spend £4m on someone who hasnt delivered, not for me. I hope his next club he ends up brilliant, but sick of waiting here
If you look at the way Liverpool and to a certain extent Citeh play, they spread the goals around the players, especially the three up front. They don't depend on one goalscorer so I'm not too concerned about any particular player in the TEAM. We play better when it's an open game, when teams sit back we struggle. We had some of our best results this season when we didn't dominate so the Prem could suit us. Even the bottom feeders will have to come at us because we're easy meat to them. Fingers crossed of course
I guess it depends if you see your side as having a striker and 2 wingers or 3 front men. Liverpool spread their goals and have firminho as the link man. Ive never seen costa and Harrison as goal scorers and they are expected to put a big defensive shift in... but to be honest both have xg conversions worse than bamford... Harrison should have had 15 this season. Maybe that explains the interest in Benrahma?
fair enough doc I understand the frustration. though you can’t expect every 20 year old to be worth 20m! think the injuries have obviously impacted his progress... whether they’ve lowered his eventual ceiling? Guess that’s for the management to work out
