so what was left for Masters to fail it on what was and still is taking the time to say if it is passed or not
Why? It makes sense that they would like to expand the remit of the test to include investigation of human rights abuses by the companies and persons involved. They realised it was unlikely to fail on those aspects before and are probably breathing a sigh of relief that the PL hasn't had to make a decision. To me what's strange is that an organisation fighting for human rights would not want a human rights abuser to be involved - it would actually give them a better platform to protest and pressure them for improvements. Probably a lot more publicity than lobbying the UK government to stop selling them arms. Anyway if they can add human rights to the fit and proper persons tests we should be able to get rid of Mike for his zero hours contracts and Asian sweatshops with child labour.
Calls into question the PL's relationship with BEin and Qatar. Amnesty have raised concerns about human rights abuses over there....
Just checked and the chairman and founder of BEIN is also the chairman of Qatar Sports Investments which owns PSG (where he is also president). QSI is a subsidiary of the Qatar Investment Authority, the Qatari equivalent of PIF.
Actually, why didn't the Saudi's create a sporting subsidiary of PIF with say Yasser Al Rumayan as chairman? He would then be this identifiable person that owns the club!
Think all you are doing is adding another level. They all lead back to a Sovereign Wealth Fund and while that may have a board of executives there are no shares as its essentially a national cash reserve. It belongs to the country, is managed by the board of executives but is controlled by who (reigning monarch, head of government?). I think that was the issue the PL was using to hold up the approval.
The only reason they could fail it was the owner uncertainty. The director side of the test is fine. PIF say they would be 80% owner. That no 1 person has control over PIF. But the PL say MBS has the final say. Or that the government do! But so what? If the human rights and IP issue is irrelevant. What’s the problem. MA has the final say currently so what’s wrong with MBS having the final say for PIF?
Seems to they could then say that's the direct link to piracy? I think mbs wrote them a letter saying he wouldn't be involved or someone very high up(highest authority) and masters insulted them by ignoring it or discrediting it. I don't see the highest authority in the kingdom being to pleased with some brummie ****er that wears sunglasses indoors calling them a liar for some reason.
In all honesty while id be jealous if Leeds got that I'd actually be pleased for them too..It wouldbt be good news for nufc.. Its one less team in the relegation race, but leeds do have a big fanbase, its a city with a higher population than Newcastle, so they'd be a real force.
That's why this will just all go away... Nobody cares about the Premier league have not done as they should... Most of the population didn't care how they stopped it a long as they did.... Thats football.. All other fanbase in our shoes would be doing the same as we're and if we were in their shoes we'd be loving it like they're.. What's right doesn't matter in football
The independent reporting the deal could be revived. This possibility has never been ruled out... Seems there's still something simmering. Whether the premier league yield I highly doubt, but if the deal is with the premier league they can't just sit on it with mounting pressure from fans media Mps including Sunak and Hancock..??
As far as I'm aware there hasn't been a formal withdrawal of the application from the buyers to the EPL has there? Kinda always felt like a bargaining tool to try and force the epl's hand and quite frankly it has been genius. The EPL are being hounded on social media and outside their offices and nothing has formally happened yet as far as I'm aware.
As I've said before, the PL aren't a governing body. There's this misconception in the public that they're "like" UEFA or FIFA - they're absolutely not. The PL ARE the big 6 teams, the big 6 teams ARE the PL - there's no differentiating the two. The PL don't represent Burnley or Everton, etc., they are a bunch of people whose jobs are to sell the broadcast rights here and abroad to the highest bidder, then line the pockets with bias of the largest 6 teams, making sympathy payments to the rest and the leagues below. The bottom line is the Premier League should never have been allowed to form. We're the only country where are governing body doesn't control the top flight - I still cannot fathom how it exists. But it also now needs to disappear, for the good of football, as does the CL in its format. Football's at a crossroads.
