Watkins would probably demand a lower wage than Wilson and doesn't have the same injury issues, as far as I know.
He does appear to be a filthy goon, though.

I’d still prefer Watkins, riskier and cost more if true Wilson is available for £10million but I’d still go for Watkins.

So can Son and Lucas (and Bergwijn and Dele) but most on here don't count them as a striker at all. For some reason the consensus is that we need a less skillful version of Kane (like Llorente) despite the fact that Liverpool, Man City. Man Utd and Arsenal make do without anyone like that.
I wouldn't be unhappy with Watkins but surely he only plays if Kane and three of the other 4 I mentioned are all unavailable.

The reason that people want a targetman is because it gives us another option, one which we've used successfully in Llorente.
It wasn't a coincidence that his introduction changed the game in Amsterdam last season.

Arsenal had that in Giroud. City had that in Dzeko. Utd had it in Ibrahimovic.
None of them are crap or lacking in skill. They offer an alternative approach.

No he’d play if Kane was unavailable. Or alongside Kane if Jose wished. He’s a striker first and foremost nowadays, the other positions are bonuses. We need another striker.

Exactly. Plus means his versatility would get him more minutes as he wouldn’t just be backup for Kane

We either need the reverse of Son - meaning a striker first and foremost who can also play out wide - or a target man. Given that we’re pretty well stocked with wingers and Jose likes a big man up top, and that worked well for us with Llorente, I suspect his priority is the latter. But really it’s anyone who can provide a focal point. When Son or Moura play striker they drift a lot, either deeper or out wide, which is understandable given the players they are, but basically leaves us with nobody to occupy the CBs when we’re in possession, which is a massive issue. Whether it’s a Llorente type or someone in the Shane Long/Jamie Vardy mode who is rapid and never gives defences a moment’s rest, we need someone to threaten that part of the pitch.

How many times in the past have we had 60,70,even 80% of the play and struggled to make that breakthrough, Ajax and Watford at Wembley come to mind where we introduced Llorente and got success. The answer was giroud and I think we could be in the CL instead of EL had we got him at Christmas not sure about Wilson or Watkins and certainly not Deeny but a Giroud ,Nando style player is a must for next season to give HK a rest or a foil to work off of with our attacking wide players

I think that we need both.
Kane needs direct backup and competition, while an experienced targetman would give us extra options.
We probably won't sign either, though.

The obvious counterpoint to bringing in a target man is that we don't have anyone capable of aiming a cross at anything other than the patch of grass behind the goal, which nullifies a lot of what a target man offers

Trippier was capable of delivering a cross to the far post so Llorente had a fairly reliable supply line - yet Aurier and Lucas are capable of delivering crosses to anywhere but the six yard box

The Standard are reporting that Fulham are looking to sign KWP from under Southampton's noses...so looks like we have another reason to sack off Hojbjerg and sign Gueye instead

There's also rumours of Jack Clarke heading to Fulham on loan too - as opposed to, say, a season-long loan to Brentford to pave the way for any arrivals

Fulham can only loan 1 player from us under premier league rules, so they can't have Skipp, Sessegnon and Clarke all have whom have been linked. So Clarke to a championship side looks more likely.

I reckon Sess would be most likely but dependent on if we bring in a LB or not, that or unless Jose has loads of faith in Cirkin.

I think Skipp should go Championship where he’s more likely to start games, not sure a Prem team could guarantee that.

Clarke may be best going League One for half a season then assess in January as I don’t think he/ the club should risk another Championship loan straight away after last season. Unless Jose assesses him in pre-season and decides to keep him around for Europa.

    Another one

Honestly thinking that a loan is the best option, as Foyth needs to get some regular games under his belt, and he really does strike me as someone who'll blow up when if he does leave

Also, it has to be said he's shown he's committed: he's taken English classes, he's hit the gym to pack on some muscle, and at no point has he kvetched to the press about his lack of games and instead talks about wanting to prove himself, and that's the sort of attitude we should be seeing - which is a million miles away from the grand sulks we've seen from Rose or Eriksen
