Right, I didn’t know anything about it but have since read it was tonnes of ammonium sulphate stored and maybe forgotten about? Apparently can be used as fertiliser or for explosives I read, if what I read is true the substance will not ignite under 210C? Very sad for everyone caught up in it.It's an accident I believe![]()

The fireworks were burning for a while before the explosion. Surely someone knew what was next door and they could have evacuated?

well since the Provos caused this with a van full of fertiliser , and some C4 as a detonator ,

not surprising 2700 tonnes of pure Ammonium Nitrate causes huge damage but even so when you see it you just go
Holy **** .![]()
From what I've read this morning it was one unit storing fireworks that caught fire next to a unit storing an incredibly explosive chemical. Who's ****ing idea was that?
All the big bombs were fertilizer.
But that one yesterday, holy **** indeed.

They were just talking about the amount being held with a chemical weapons expert, and he said to put it to scale, if this quantity of Ammonium Nitrate and gone off in Manchester or London, it would completely flatten the whole of those Cities.
That seems a bit of an exaggeration from them tbh.
It's shocking that 300,000 ppl have been made homeless from that blast though.

was the expert @HRH Custard VC by any chance?
I mean that was massive but flatten London/Manchester?
the shockwaves were felt 8 miles away but everything is still standing beyond a certain distance...damage yes..flattened no

Not sure, is it too early to make up jokes about the explosion in Beirut.
Actually I think I'll wait for the dust to settle.
