That Beirut explosion is horrific. I’m not going to post the videos from Twitter on here for obvious reasons but that isn’t a usual explosion.

 

Might be. There's a series of small explosions and then an absolutely massive one.
Could be something like fireworks at first, then a fuel source or something.
The initial lot could well be what they're saying. Seems odd to put something that explosive near fireworks, though.

 

It looks like there was an initial explosion, which in turn smashed some gas pipes leading to the second explosion

What's being said on Al Jazeera, that the building housed explosive material (although what that material was, or why it was there, has not been released) certainly supports this

 

My money is on a very large munitions shipment, detonated due to
one of the following

- piss-poor procedure/protocols by personnel
- deliberate action (by opponents of the shipment "buyers/owners" )


Doing the simple data analytics on the vessels in that port, will of
course depend on whether the CIT systems for that port had their
storage servers off-site.
