Freak results in cup competitions happen - losing to Cardiff and Port Vale who were just as bad as Colchester in the more distant past. Bayern was a terrible result, but it was a freak they scored 7 from 8 shots on target and not a keeping error in site never a 2-7 match they were better than us not it was a much closer match than the score suggests. The 5-1 was the result of the efforts we had made to try and push Leicester to the death, once we couldn't win the league our heart had gone and its a shame that it was Arsenal that benefited but 2nd or 3rd whats the difference we were going for the win and came up short. To be fair to Leicester they kept winning and were not catching them even if we won every match. That title actually went we lost to them at the Lane having battered them but not taken our chances and they scored a completely undeserved sucker punch set piece winner.
We've been negotiating for Hojbjerg for a few weeks Gueye only became available in the last 48 hours This is why, sometimes, it pays to wait
- Pros Nowadays whenever we buy a player who is at Soton, a PL challenge by Spurs follows the next season. - Cons Those whiiiiiiiiiiny Soton 606ers who will subsequently infest here.
If we're loaning out Skipp for the season, then we need two holding midfielders, as we have none. Hojbjerg would presumably count as one of them. Gueye would be great as the other. Kante's also available...
Kante would be a dream signing. Maybe we can catch Chelsea on a good day? I agree we do ideally need two though but I reckon it's doubtful we'll bring two in unless one of Winks/ Sissoko leaves and both seem likely to stay... Unfortunately. There might be an outside shot for Amos if he doesn't leave but I'd be surprised if he wasn't sold to be honest. Might be an even bigger outside shot of Bowden getting games in the Europa.
Signing Kante would be a real statement of intent by Spurs. Unfortunately I think Hojbjerg is the only DM being signed this window.
As the Ndombele to Inter rumours aren't going away, Brozovic surely has to be on our radar ...although why Sissoko for Brozovic isn't on the table I have no idea, given he was suggested as a target the other day
I'd give Sissoko and Winks for Brozovic. Kills two birds with one stone. Deadwood gone, great player in. I reckon Ndombele will stay, risky because if he don't sort his fitness out we're ****ed but here's hoping Levy/ Jose etc has a plan for fatty.
Sissoko yes, Winks no Winks would be unlocked if he were in a midfield capable of protecting itself. For the sake of argument, if he had Lo Celso in front of him and Brozovic/Hojbjerg beside him he'd actually have the time and space to ping passes around, rather than what he's had to do for two seasons which is recycle it PDQ
He's been doing what he's been doing for longer than two seasons. Though if we ever signed Brozovic we wouldn't see Winks in the XI (thankfully). As Brozovic would be in there with Hojbjerg and Lo Celso.
Agree, there is a good player there. Just needs to be in the right system and he will be a quality player for Spurs.
Lol I've never known a player to have so much belief from Spurs fans despite offering next to nothing for nearly four years now. About two and a half/ three years ago it was - He's just come back from injury, give him time. About two years ago it was - He's the water carrier, it's useful. About a year ago it was - He needs to play in a three, not a two. Now it's - In the right system, he'll be great. My prediction for 6-12 months time - If he had Messi to pass too he'll be brilliant.
He will be a valuable player in the Europa league next season, most of his best performances have been in Europe where he gets more time and hopefully we will get lots of matches in that competition.
