I thought about it last night - it's all very odd. PIF not commenting, RB not commenting, bid cancelled but PL not informed. I'm not sure I really trust the Staveley woman.
This begs the question.. Why wasn't it failed? Surely if they had grounds to fail it they should have?
I don't think it's particularly weird.. The guy who released that statement is pissed off he's not going to see the investment and that time energy and money has been spent putting all the plans together..
why do you have to fail it, when the key question on ownership was never answered? I FB they had that little gem, maybe they could have made that decision. FIP walked away mate, they looked at the returns and though better opportunity’s were available?
what plans? If that were the case and the PL has pissed on the Saudi chips, release them to the media, show what the corrupt PL/Government had done to the NE.
They we're presented with something and surely have the obligation to fail it if it didn't pass their test? Yes they did say they walked, but never officially withdrew it with the premier league. I don't know it's anyone's guess and im emotionally invested in it, but I don't get why they'd just throw 17 million away.. If it was failed they'd get that returned..... Maybe that's it.. They've walked and said over to you prem league you can't just sit on it forever, but we don't want to but the club anymore?
Given our shareholders - the Reuben brothers - were to be an integral part of the deal, we had many plans for our ventures and sport in the north east. "We were planning on creating one of the Premier sporting hubs in the UK undertaking development work that is vital for the region and enjoying valuable synergies with the football club. "We continue to hope that those exciting plans are not in vain.
All of it is weird. Why not do, as Simon Jordan suggests, seek legal action on the grounds of restriction of trade?
The silence is everything, I think. Clearly the big clubs just don't want it passed and that means the entire PL is just 6 clubs.
Because its not been failed yet... Its still not over is my suspicion... They may be rich but if it was failed the 17 million is refunded... Why just give it away.. At least make them fail it and go from there
So PIF walked away from £17m, how so? they walked away without letting the PL make a decision. Why do the PL need to continue with the process and state if it would/would not fail. By all accounts they were not supplied with the information needed and the PIF guys walked away.
The rumours say that the PL wanted S Arabia as one of the Directors. PIF are supposed to have obtained confirmation from the highest level at S Arabia that the Government would not meddle in NUFC through PIF. That apparently wasn't sufficient for the PL. The belief was that if S Arabia was put down as a Director then the PL would have failed it on piracy issues even though there is no evidence that S Arabia were involved in piracy as opposed to the WTO report saying that S Arabia wasn't doing enough to fight piracy. Therefore, PIF refused to put S Arabia down as a Director. The PL were then alleged to say that they would just sit on the application and not make a decision. I've never heard of a country being a Director of a Company. Not saying that can't be but it does seem unusual to say the least. That is what is being alleged as the background to the walk away.
The PL is Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and United. Without them, the PL wouldn’t be. So remember to thank us when you are in it.
This is it for me there's something untoward in it. If it's failed the test fail it? The fact they have not tells me I should pass in its current form Just my take anyway
Rumours are just that, makes you wonder why PIF haven’t released a statement. But it’s easier to blame the PL or Tories.
How can you fail it, they walked away without supplying all that was needed/asked for. That’s like saying I failed a driving test I never showed up for, can fail if never taken.
No grounds to fail. They have simply bowed to pressure and refused to pass it hoping someine walks away. Underhand tactics.
