Not really onboard with this linking of buying a football club and investment in the northeast. While there would hopefully be investments in facilities by any new owners, if their other businesses are interested in investing here then they can still go ahead and do it. Presumably if its a good investment they will do it, if not they won't. Successful businesses don't plough money into an area just because they own another business there.
I think it's dead personally.. The prem don't want to pass it, the government don't want to do anything about it and the Saudis have walked
they folded faster than a Chinese laundry. Especially after Chaos told me they won’t stop until they get what they want/wait till I see the plans they have. Just ownership was the one question it crashed on
the Saudis were only looking at how they could use Newcastle as an investment by all accounts. So pumping billions in won’t ever yield a return.
Yes, it's not a Mansour situation where he just fancied buying/bullying his way to be an elite team. PIF are investors. A lot of geordies don't quite get it. Staveley's pushed this £250m number, but that's over 3 years. To be clear, that's lower than So'ton, Villa, Wolves, Everton and Leicester by some distance.
Until The Saudis behead Richard Masters and become international Pariahs this thread must remain open even if it is just to remind us how ridiculous this has all been
We will be reminded everytime we sell our best players, struggle and eventually fall off the map completely.
just local support, like Everton. When did Newcastle trouble the trophy engravers last? like many others, you have fallen off the map as UEFA imposes FFP and extended the CL to keep the top a closed shop.
That's true, however when I say fall off the map I mean going down and staying down. I really don't think that's too far away.. The games moved on and while we suffer takeover fail after takeover fail clubs around or even below have had them.. The sad reality is we simply don't have the money to compete and filling a stadium is no longer an advantage. It is what it is, but I do think this will make it all the more bitter when we have to sell our best players, lose local talent andike I say fall off the map
I It’s not just the investment in players either. It’s the investment in infrastructure, training ground, resources, scouting, relationships, sponsorship, communication it’s the full shebang. The £250m investment AS was referring to isn’t just for players but to build the whole club from bottom up. Every season we fall behind now just scraping but I think other clubs have got well ahead of us now in terms of structure and professionalism that we cannot catch up. FFS we have just brought through 2 players (longstaffs) from the youth team (that’s a first under Ashley) and the one that looks like he is reasonable quality we have just left him to effectively leave the club. We are a rotten club atm from top to bottom.
That's the thing it was going to cost them a fortune and it would've taken time. People see caught up on losing hopes of competeing an signing top players, but for me it's not so much that but more about not losing our best players and not securing a positive long term future... We'd never be in any serious trouble... Now we're facing almost certain struggles and most likely certain disaster.. The premier league wiped its arse on nufc, the city and its people and simply threw it in the bin. They don't care... When w go down another club gets promoted..
I don’t revel in seeing a club like Newcastle struggle. Jeez, I had to watch the mess we were mid to late 90’s after being poorly ran. While looking at how well Newcastle were run/funded. even when we were bad, Moyes had a vision for a top class training facility and was instrumental in it being delivered and maybe in 3 years we will be in a world class, waterfront ground. But we won’t be spending silly money after 3 years of silly buys, because it doesn’t work. £250m over three seasons, that’s just enough to stand still if spent just on players/wages. Needs a step change in expectation and delivery of the improvement.
Why couldn’t PIF just clarify ownership? This top class investment fund Was tripped up by incompetent fools at the PL?
