Last season I predicted that Bogusz would make the breakthrough to the first team. Wrong he went missing all season except for a few U23 games. Started the season off in Australia in pre season and finished the season coming on for 10 minutes as sub. So my prediction was wrong

This season Nohan Kenneh is my prediction. Can play anywhere but is a fantastic DM and ball player and a unit too. A baby now getting time with the U23s a future full England star

Ok Doc. What are we talking here? Are we talking players without any first team experience? Players who have had the odd appearance?

I can't see anyone breaking through and playing more than 5 games that hasn't already broken through in to the first team squad.

Can I cheat and go with Poveda? He looked promising.

Shackleton will have more game time this season.

Struijk seems to have climbed the ladder.

I reckon Edmonson could go really well at Aberdeen this year. This could be his breakthrough season.

Stuart Mckinstry has impressed me but might be too early for him next season.

I don't watch too much academy so will bow to Doc's knowledge on this one.

Emu I meant academy kids who get to be getting minutes on the pitch with the first team. So from your above list Stuart McKinstrey is a good shout 17yo but now a regular for the U23s

This ^^^ I can’t see anyone breaking into the team that hasn’t already appeared. I’m hoping Struijk continues to improve

Think we have 3-4 who could be subs,or starters with injured players. 5 or 6 u23s played in the last game, and didn't look out of place, that's not bad tbh.

You will probably see a few kids released or sold yet just like last season. We have 2 more coming in which means a couple will move out.

We have 4 new players minimum coming into the 1st team which means 2 will replace White and Berardi plus 2 additions, which means either some of the U23s in the squad will have to go back to the 23s or out on loan. Or it would mean him extending his first team squad from 18 plus kids to 20 plus fewer kids....

Its hard to know what Bielsa’s season plan is going to be but he always has a small squad, so I would expect some players moved on. Kiko, Douglas maybe Alioski? So the breakthrough player may be a surprise

He is a very loyal coach, I’d be surprised if he moves anyone on, but will add two or three.

Does anyone know if the 9 subs on the bench, 5 subs per match rule is carrying on next season?
That would make it more likely to see youngsters given a chance, if only in cameo appearances.

Good point, I thought it was because of lack of training it was permitted before but preseason this time is going to be reduced

OK, glad to see the back of the drinks break, even Shako can go 45 minutes without a drink, or maybe not.

I once saw a bloke taking a pee at a game holding his pie in the other hand. When he needed to zip himself up he put the pie on top of the urinal divider. If he has survived that kind of behaviour I bet he is immune to coronavirus.
