over 50 thousand signatures now https://www.change.org/p/boris-johnson-an-independent-investigation-into-the-epl-takeover-process
I think the fans are playing the only part they can what we need is the Media to start asking questions
Gotta get to 100k... Its nice to see the reporters are too afraid to for fear of backlash.. I can understand that tbh. The deals gone.. Tbh I feel like stavely using the fans a bit now... Its not going to leave us looking good this.. But I've signed and emailed on the hope there's a chance in the future
all at once date and time to be confirmed probably on the day they supposed to announce the PL Fixtures total melt down
PIF were doing this as a business decision - not to make the fans happy. Can’t blame them for pulling out. The deal was attracting a disproportionate amount of publicity and taking a lot longer than anticipated for a relatively small transaction. I can see why they got cold feet. Its annoying that this didnt go through but I think you are directing your anger at the wrong party.
Must admit I felt a little sheepish doing it as I think this whole online petition/crowd funding business is a bit ridiculous (which is why I didn't donate to Chippy's Buy Me a Pint crowdfunding appeal). However I do think it's important that there is an independent investigation into how these owner tests are carried out because this one seemed to highlight weaknesses in the current system. 1) Remit - The blaze of publicity surrounding this takeover seemed to open up the remit of the test to a wider analysis of whether these were the right owners for a PL club and not following the clear specs set out in the PL rules and regulations 2) Conflict of Interest - Once this was no longer a case of - are the proposed controllers fit and proper persons according to the definitions indicated, then the fact that the body doing the investigation is made up of the clubs in the league provides a possibility of a conflict of interest. I realise that this goes on in many sports (Major League baseball being a prime case where owners decide on new franchises and proposed franchise moves). I don't have a problem with them widening the remit of the fit and proper persons test but they need to be consistent and it needs to be done by an independent organisation.
Yes it's a waste of time I have a feeling its still with the premier league though and they're trying to force an official decision. PIF walked I feel they've let the fans down personally. They've left us tared with their brush.. In the eyes of everyone else we've sold our souls to Satan. The fact our country does in blissful ignonirance passes them by completely and the clear corruption argument isn't even considered valid to them.
