Exactly my point. I said have the funds AND pass the tests. Both. Some people don’t read posts, they pre judge. Nether of those have anything to do with the asking price. I AGREE the family were (are?) asking too much, that’s not my point, my point was no one was equipped to even get to the haggling stage.
Nick Thompson (ex CEO at City) claims to have seen actual proof that Dominic Grieve had the funds to buy the club. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Do you think the people who had multiple meetings with the Allams did so just for the fun of it. You're deluded pal. And he wasn't the only one. On top of that, just look at how many clubs have been sold / bought during the Allam's tenure. If the price had been reasonable, if the Allams had really wanted to sell, If the Allams weren't incompetent, arrogant, greedy, of course the club would have been sold. Of course there were, and most likely still are, buyers. Sorry @HulluvaGuy, you are talking utter tripe.
You’re believing Ehab’s bollocks, Greive provided proof of funds and if they hadn’t ****ed him about not turning up to meetings and hiking the price at the last minute, he’d be our owner now.
Just think, 2021/22 season we'll be playing Harrogate, Scunny n Grimsby! Just need York to win promotion 2 seasons running (new ground bounce, could it happen?). #GoldenTriangleofDiv4
The price went up after promotion. Then the Chinese appeared with a better offer. Not sure you can lay 5 years of blame over hanging out for more. The Chinese outbid but were never credible. The Americans showed proof of funds, but didn’t do this for the revised premiere league cost. Whatever the above, that was it for anything that got close. I did say (read back) the American bid was the single exception. The Chinese bid wasn’t ever going to get past the tests. This period was when it got to the “talk” stage, but the Chinese messed it all up (they were the literal reason the family walked away from the USA talks). Absolutely everything else has been verging between shambolic and hopeful. You know yourself that some bids were stunts, and some were groups who were looking to get a deal and then find the cash! Sadly, events have conspired to make it a distant dream we will have a rich buyer any time soon. Most of what happened is shrouded in NDA and those involved have too much honour to talk openly. But those who know enough know it was never a refusal to sell that was the crucial issue.
I say again to sell you need certain things in place A. A realistic price tag which reflects the item being on sale B. A seller wishing to sell C. A seller who having negotiated a deal sticks to said agreement. Oh and did I mention D. A seller wishing to sell !!! The greedy barstewards currently at the helm have a guaranteed stream of income from outstanding previous transfers which will for the majority cover the basic running of the club, while still creaming off interest from their 'gift' to the city. They have little to no interest what happens as long as they are bleeding money out of us. They are scum as far as I am concerned.
He’s moved to fantasy island. That bloke was as fictional as the Loch Ness monster. Classic bullshitter, hanger on. Pretty much every word he posted was a lie.
Your posts imply a somewhat in the know element. Whether there is truth to this to or not, it is always interesting to read another take on the failed Grieve bid. Oh, how I wish I could conjure the CI threads from the bowels of the internet to refresh my memory of the chain of events. But from memory this is how it goes. Papa is very ill, possibly in hospital. The sale is entrusted to Ehab. Ehab does not attend planned meetings, nor does documentation requested turn up. finally a date is agreed for the sale to go through. Papa sits down at the table and asks for 6 million for the SMC. Americans leave. I am fairly sure, Papa's intervention was leaked. The party responsible was never named. I had a suspicion, but was told, no. It was not he. If, as you say their heads had been turned by the Chinese interest, would the Allams attend a meeting to sign off on the deal? As I said, another take on that pantomine, and I will agree with you that the real reasons, NDA or otherwise, will not be known.
Real reason is neither the seller or any buyer ever got in a place to talk a deal credibly. With a chance on passing the fit test. It’s that simple. Blame the Allams, but that’s a bit blind to reality.
If this post is a reply to my take on the Grieve takeover, sandwiched between your two, then I will yield my hazy memory of events to your certainty.
