Same here in the Netherlands not enough enforcement of masks and distancing. Rising infection rates 20/30 age group biggest. More lockdowns and border closures to come. We travel only by bike and avoid crowds like the plague.

I'm not surprised that rules change all the time...and suddenly...it's a matter of reacting to an ongoing crisis. This is happening all over the world. This would be simple if it was purely a matter of preventing deaths due to Covid19 and money was no object whatsoever....every government would just say 'Stay at home and we will pay you and feed you forever'. This is just not possible....therefore every government is trying to get life back to normal and stepping back if it is a step too far. The balance will be reached eventually.... a balance minimising deaths and illness due to Covid19 without too high a cost in other areas...financial instability, mental health, and deaths/illness due to isolation, fear and lack of exercise etc. That balance will not include no deaths due to Covid….that is a long way down the line.

Funny but everyone doesn't have to agree the same about everything. Tiss is entitled to his opinion, same as you.

People are so quick to jump on anything that they perceive as controversial, racist, sexist etc that they are suppressing not only free speech, but, more alarmingly, the pursuit of knowledge. The knee jerk reaction to the MP who said that BAME people are driving Covid infection is a good example. The correct response to that is not 'shut up, you are being racist', but 'why do you think that, what is your evidence?' If there is none, then that can be aired. If there is some evidence, what can we do about it....how can these vulnerable groups be helped?

I am very uncomfortable with witch hunts of people...it creates a society of fear and cowardice.

Yes, entitled to his opinion as are those that disagree with what's posted on public media and reply with their criticism.
"Todays poll. If the government asked you to stop driving because there was a small chance you’d kill someone would you do it?"
    Bit odd or not?

Well if you responded to the poll then probably not. I'm not sure what that is trying to measure though. funny old world lately. Must admit I have abandoned public transport for the car and I live in London! Not quite the question of the poll but probably a more relevant question these days.

No odder than stuff you hear on an average night in a pub or on a bus. :)

Some expert has said we may have to close pubs so that schools can be reopened. Mmmm....pubs or schools. Bit of a toughie :)

James O’Brien calling Matt Hancock a liar and nailing him to the wall. This should be on prime time tv.

Where you are living, shouldn’t that be “avoid crowds like The Hague?” :)

Pubs in England may need to close to allow schools to reopen next month, a scientist advising the government has said.

    _______________

To be fair, they needed to shut the pubs to get my year group into school as well! <laugh>

Haven't been to a pub or used public transport for what seems to be an age, we only go were we can go by bike so manage to avoid the pub bores. I tend to move away when the "I heard from a friend or do you know blah, blah" should do the same with social media. Besides no one wants to pay for their arguments any more.

Ha ha, yes we do avoid the centre during busy times it's a scrum. I think similar in most towns and cities wherever.

I’m shopping freely again and have had a couple of meals out, but don’t fancy public transport atm....luckily don’t need to. I have had to hold my breath in the past because of the state of some passengers...don’t want to rely on their idea of cleanliness. Shame as I love travelling upstairs looking at our beautiful Island.

Haven't got a car, peddle power for us. From what I've seen the trams and buses are pretty empty with seats blocked. The beach we use is also quiet, plenty of space.
