I'm not sure where this "in todays market" has come from. Attendance is only a fraction of revenue, their are still super rich clubs out there, player will still go for silly money. I dont see why everyone thinks 20 to 30 million is going to be wiped of a players value.
Look at the revenue clubs have lost (are down) and it may help you understand. This will probably go on for a large part of next season if not all.
Liverpool’s summer transfer market strategy can be perfectly explained by Jordan Henderson Jurgen Klopp has a very specific tactical set-up which influences Liverpool's transfer market approach and the Reds captain sums it up That Jordan Henderson, who has played in a number of positions throughout his career, but has more recently mastered both the number six and the number eight in Klopp’s midfield, can be so versatile in his role in the team with such ease perhaps points in part to why he is rated so highly by his manager. Henderson, the FWA Player of the Year, is a rare example of someone who can understand such complex tactical systems that Klopp and his backroom team employ with such ease that he can be world-class in two places. On the Liverpool.com podcast, Dan Morgan explained: "The amount of times that Henderson takes the ball with his back to goal on the halfway line and never loses it or comes out leaving the team exposed - that type of ability to keep Liverpool in shape is really hard to put your finger on as stand-out brilliant. "He is not picking up the ball in De Bruyne-like areas and putting it into the six-yard box with venom - he’s making other players look better. "He knows where this Liverpool team should be on the pitch two or three moves before anyone else. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...l-transfer-summer-strategy-henderson-18672623
Has anybody been bought/sold for less than youd expect? Ive not seen any noticeable difference in player "value" maybe the amount of transfers may drop, but I doubt the amount of money spent will.
You could argue we've not been surprised either, we usually see transfer fees and think wtf. PS...I agree the values won't change too much, if anything, clubs won't spend as much by buying less players.
Who would pay the big money for Salah...probably only a handful of clubs could afford him and wouldn’t those same clubs be in for Sancho themselves if they had that type of money?
I think we all agree Mane is the better player of the two. I wouldnt want to lose either of course, but of all our 'elite' players he is probably top of the list if you were willing to sell any of them.
Every window for the past few years there's been a hope from some quarters that Lovren would be on his way and I've always said we need to keep him for Salah. Although our squad is tight knit as a whole there are individuals who I would consider loners like Mané, Salah and now Keita and Minamino. I don't think Mané is bothered about close friendships in the squad but I think Salah and Lovren have a genuine friendship and Salah would find it a lot easier to move on now. I hope he doesn't. I think this coming season will be a defining one for our front 3. They will all be hitting their peak at the same time so what you say about selling Mo now as he is hitting his peak is a good point even though I don't want to sell him ..... ever. I can feel myself falling into the trap I promised myself I wouldn't again, of becoming too attached to certain players.
Given your disinclination to actually read anything beyond the first paragraph, I wonder how far you got with that article? I gave up about a third of the way through. It's a dog's dinner of ifs, buts and maybes with a bit of wild speculation lobbed in.
Unless he was going to follow him to Zenit I can't see why that would be a significant factor? He'll get over it. He may leave for a variety of reasons, but they'll be either footballing or financial, or both. In my opinion, of course.
