Morning all. Clear blue sky, not a breath of wind and it is going to be very hot this afternoon. This is not great if you have a caravan or tent as you can get ultra hot inside those. The little campsite alongside the river in the nearest small town has lots of trees and shady pitches which is good, and it has the usuals who spend six weeks or more there every year as well as those who are just passing through. The much larger town has a large campsite, but as I passed it on Tuesday it looked nearly empty. The newspaper reports several times during the holiday season on the numbers of people using it, and the first figures look very poor. It never completely pays for itself, but brings trade into the town, so the council stumps up the shortfall. It looks as though it will be paying out a lot of money this year unless things pick up. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

Morning all. At 8.00 am we had a clear blue sky with not a cloud in sight. Two hours later and there is a complete grey cloud cover. It even looks as though there might be a little rain up there. The annual get away from the cities is underway with the autoroutes grinding to a halt in places. The gendarmerie are out in force doing spot checks on papers, cars and drivers. As one motorist said after he had blown into the breathalyzer he didn't object if it made the journey safer. Have a good safe day whatever you are doing. <ok>

Safe journey yorkie. Temperatures likely to drop a few degrees that will make things better.

Morning all. Slightly cooler this morning, although the man from the Météo has arrived in the office, rolled the dice, come up with a six that says that storms are possible. On the trip to the supermarket yesterday I found that the holiday offer that seems to happen each time the country is on the move was in place. The filling station was busier than it has been for weeks as people filled up their cars with the cheap fuel. There was a piece in the newspaper about the oil companies sales dropping through the floor over the past months, so by lowering the price it is creating a bit of space in the storage tanks. Although I do not intend to go very far it seemed a shame not to fill up, and going by past usage I will not need any more for a couple of months. Enjoy your day and stay safe. <ok>

Not at this time in the morning. <yikes> In view of the governments suggestion that we are all too heavy, our doughnuts are reducing in size from tomorrow and people will find that they are rationed to one per person. :emoticon-0100-smile

We had scenes like this last year, and once again with everywhere parched they are breaking out again. This one was only about 6 kms away and set fire to 30 hectares.

Morning all. Temperature much lower and far more comfortable today. I thought I felt the house move earlier; it must have been Yorkie driving his overladened car onto dry land. :emoticon-0105-wink: Had the first of my runner beans last night with my dinner. There are plenty there and they should do well if I can keep watering them enough. The forecast suggests that I will not be getting much help. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

Funny that - my runner beans have just about finished after feasting on them for the last fortnight.
Sadly, the only other crop I have this year - raspberries - seems to have failed. Not even a hint of a berry on any of them. :(

Due to the wet start to the year my runner beans were late going in, but the peas and mangetout did very well despite the late start. My first sowing of haricot vert had a load of flower, but produced nothing as the flowers didn't set. The current ones have set, and within a week or so should be ready to harvest. I have Loganberries that last year produced a bumper crop, yet almost nothing this year. My daughter in Aylesbury has had no raspberries this time round, but loads of cherries and a reasonable crop of strawberries. Thank goodness we don't have to make a living from growing things.

Morning all. Very grey and overcast with just a few spots of rain. Rares averses is the expression for occasional showers, and of late they have been as rare as hens teeth. That shower lasted a whole minute, so I am not getting excited. I have been watching the swallows that sit together on the telephone line and chatter away to each other. They had nests in one of my barns for several years but created such a mess with their droppings that I shut the door. There are plenty of open barns for them to nest in and looking at the number of young ones they have been quite happy and have raised a lot this year. What you do see is that when they are zooming around the fly population decreases. With a farm in the hamlet there are plenty of those around to annoy the cattle. Have a good day, and I hope that Yorkie has brought a decent amount of rain with him as it is going to get very hot later in the week. <ok>

Morning all. The showers didn't arrive yesterday, and none are forecast for the coming days. Been to collect some bread from the machine down the road and it was already half empty. Several days I went to collect some nearer midday only to find that the type of loaf I wanted had gone, and finished up having to drive to the supermarket to buy some. The early bird catches the loaf rather than worms seems to be the message. Have a good day whatever you have planned. <ok>

Morning all. Quite a comfortable temperature currently, but expected to be around 30°C this afternoon. Friday it is expected to rise to 38° or 39° C depending on which forecast you look at, so apart from watering I will not be doing a lot outside. I have a job inside though, which is transferring 35mm slides onto the computer. My late father-in- law was an enthusiastic photographer and we have boxes and boxes of his slides, some of which have family members on. It is not easy to identify who some of the people are at weddings etc. and it would be really helpful if names were added to photographs. Modern technology helps where you can easily put names to people, but as the systems change you can find that discs that were designed to be read by previous operating systems are now often useless. I have loads of them now that can be best used as bird scarers. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

    Good day all.
30 degrees here at midday and more to come.
Interesting visit and discussion with dentist who expects another lockdown soon...
Will treat me and next week I should be painless after virtually six months...
Luckily it is so dry here that the weeds are mainly dead..
Just been for a hot walk to the village post office in the next village and foraged apples and blackberries for a pie..
