They just decided to sit on it until they gave up imo.. Knowing the season starting abs the window not being open to do what they'd planned would collapse the deal.. Seems that way to me...
As was obvious, the big clubs didn’t want it. That was the end of it. Nothing else. Bein has a bit of a moan too, but it was Man U et al lobbying against it. Comfortably the most sickeningly brazen display of corruption I’ve ever seen.
Been out all day and only just read about it, obviously disappointing. I dont actually live in the North East, so beyond being a Newcastle fan its a massive loss for the entire region more than anything. Its not surprising that they would pull out, the dithering has been going on for months, answers to questions ignored and requested again. I do believe it would have passed, but an entire window of waiting is too much for everyone. With people now offering more cash, obviously Ashley will want to renegotiate. Only an idiot wouldn't try it, I'm sure that the idea of going back to the table to hack out another deal was the killing blow. I do think the Mauriss thing is real, I don't think Ashley is staying. But the club is on deaths door.
Im sure there will be a lot of interest in this. PIF walking away looks odd to anyone who is not ITK so a LOT of outside parties will be all over this.
The prime issue was seemingly what they leaked the other day mate, the failure of the investment fund to clarify the structure and ultimately the decision maker. Given who the Chair of PIF is, you can understand why they wanted clarity on that, and it was apparently not forthcoming. The piracy issue was far from minor imo. As the issue directly affected one of its broadcast partners and the PL themselves had been blocked from pursuing a legal case in Saudi, and then they blocked BeIN again during the actual process, which was ****ing barmy. Ultimately the Saudis have wanged it. Their choice.
Its not even a competition really.. The position are pretty much set unless someone spends insane money and of course FFP was introduced to eliminate that threat. Leicester have had a good shot again but they'll fall away pretty quick... Wolves Villa Everton have money so they'll fill the places outside the top 6 along with Leicester and then there's going to be Leeds Qatar takeover.. Nufc is pretty much where it should be and eventually we'll have bad season and go down.. This really is a sickener.. We will be thinking what if when getting relegated at villa Park again or something
That’s not really acceptable though is it. There’s nearly always one person ultimately in charge. In our case right now it’s Ashley. In your case it’s Moshri. In Pifs case it’s MBS. What is the difference? Why does it matter if ultimately the final call is MBS?
We can expect quite alot of oh I feel for the Newcastle fans, but it's for the best etc and I hope they find another owner. Everyone wants nufc to find another owner just as long ad they aren't rich enough to spoil their weekends
Keane has been largely sound mate. We’d not lose money on him either imo. Young Kean is still a kid really, we paid £18m plus add ons, he’s not been given enough game time for me, but given the form of Richarlison and DCL this season he’s had to sit it out. There’s a player there imo. We’ve got a list of other assorted ****e though, most of whom we’ve already binned off. Oh and ****ing Iwobi. The major positive of the new owner has been the stadium development. An iconic design riverside stadium costing £500m was a pipe dream before, now we’re just awaiting planning consent.
I think we should consider merging the Everton and Newcastle boards. we get on like a house on fire, ini?
Here’s another spin on things. The PL won’t allow our club to be sold for 300m, OUR whole club. Yet on the same day we hear the news Man CIty have spent upwards of 65m on 2 players even though they have had (obviously its been refunded) a transfer embargo placed on them.
