Good Morning. It's Thursday 30th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Harrison agrees loan deal and will sign shortly

Jack Harrison has agreed terms with Leeds and will re-sign for another season. The Manchester City winger has emerged as far more consistent player last term, though many would agree that there is still room for improvement.

Pep Guardiola understands that his player is in safe hands under the Management of Marcelo Bielsa and had little hesitation in agreeing another loan term. Leeds will still be given the choice to permanently sign the 23yo, though the price has gone up from 8m to 10m.

Citeh are also set to loan Brazilian teenage sensation Yan Couto to the Whites. The exciting wing backs (either wing) devastating pace and close ball control will cause many Premiership defences problems next season.

Does Harrison deserve an automatic starting place?

Digital health passport could be the key to see fans flock back to Elland Road

A secure digital health passport could be the key to seeing the fans flock back to Elland Road next season!!!

Spectators wanting to enter Elland Road would have to undergo a simple coronavirus test involving a pinprick to draw blood and a 10 minute wait to get the results. The test would need to take place 48 hours before the game, and if negative the unique digital passport can be scanned, verified and approved by venue officials from a distance of up to 100 metres. The technology compares facial recognition with passport photographs.

The results are works on a traffic light system - red for positive, green for negative and amber indicates a countdown trigger date to the next test date. The results of the test are taken into account for up to 14 days.

The £15 cost covers everything - the testing, administration of the passport and the bio-security checks at venues. Many Premier League clubs are already expressed their interest in taking part in these trials during pre-season friendlies next month.

Pilot programmes involving between 500 and 5,000 spectators will take place initially.

Inventor Louis-James Davis is confident his system can get even the biggest venues up to full capacity, with those in attendance having the reassurance that they and the people around them are not infectious.

"We're creating a bio-secure environment by ensuring all fans - plus stadium staff, security officials, players and backroom staff - inside the stadium are tested and have proved their test result is negative on arrival,"
"Let's say we do five of these pilot events which are a success. There is no reason why this then can't be scaled up. It's simply a case of increasing the staff to administer the tests. It will then over time gradually get back to normal because everyone can trust that it's a bio-secure venue."

"Clubs can't charge fans a full season ticket cost if they can't guarantee that they're going to get in,"
"So if the clubs said 'right, you can come to these games this season, but it's going to cost an extra £15 a ticket to come', I would say that most people would go. The clubs might even concede that they have to absorb the £15. Without that revenue from spectators, the clubs cannot exist on advertising and sponsor revenue alone."

I reckon some type of covid testing needs to be in place however this suggestion is not great for fans who live outside the Leeds area

I would have to make a 125 miles all round journey 48 hours prior to a game, also £15 for testing plus fuel expenses for the initial trip would make every match extremely expensive & time consuming for me

I can't see how this could work. I think it's more likely that we'll go down the road of lower capacities in stadia and compulsory use of masks. If you can go on a London tube train wearing a mask then wearing one outdoors sitting at least one metre away from the next person should be doable.

    Morning all...

I have a feeling this will possibly be Bielsa’s final season with us and also Harrison’s. I think Jack is decent but if he were better than that City would be taking him back. Without Bielsa I don’t believe many other managers would see Harrison as a major signing. I like the lad but I wouldn’t be bothered if I saw Costa, Alioski or Poveda ahead of him on the team sheet.

Bielsa doesn’t stick around the same team too long. I think after a season in the PL he’ll realise it doesn’t matter how great a coach you are, without a squad of multi million pound players you just can’t expect too much too often. Bielsa won’t enjoy the way the PL is run by Sky and those with deep pockets

Harrison is still very young, recon we will sign him end of next season, and Leicester have shown, you can still be up near the top on a lower budget.

Morning all. It does not follow that a group of expensive players will beat a good team. Marcelo is one of the worlds great coaches, there are not many better coaches in the Premiership. I think we will be able to compete even with no signings. Football is a team game.

Football is about confidence too. Important we get off to a flying start like last two seasons and get points on the board. Don't want to hard a draw and risk getting few points from first half dozen games and the players heads dropping

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Seems we have around 10 players in quarantine and even Orta is locked down so having to do Zoom negotiating with clubs. Media stories are drying up after initial influx, but one thats raging especially in the Portuguese media is Leeds and Florentino. Apparently Orta is proposing a loan deal with an option to buy for Around £20m. This sounds feasible and although Florentino is touted as the next big thing and wanted by AC Milan, he has dropped off this year. So try before you buy is a way around it and an Orta favourite. Done the same with Meslier, Costa, Harrison and the JKA deal would have been the same if we didn't have damaged goods.

For those who haven't seen Florentino imagine a taller more mobile version of Ngolo Kante and add in fast tricky feet and skills. Benfica are saying he is a central DM and a right midfielder, they’re wrong and the reason his form has dropped is because they are playing him out of position, he should be the main DM. Unless Milan do come in Ortas deal may be the best

Think that is a possibility under any other manager, although under Bielsa i don't think so, But it would be just our bloody luck first three fixtures would be away Liverpool, home Man City, then away Chelsea, although mind you seven out of nine points from those fixtures & we would be rocking .
Having said that (knowing Leeds) our first loss would probably be the next game home to Brighton <wah>

    Morning troops.

If that’s the case why are we buying him, as Phillips is our main DM?

Maybe Bielsa has other ideas of his best position as he did with Kalvin?

We need cover for Bamford, Pablo, Kalvin and at least one new CB so at least 4 signings plus a keeper if we offload Kiko.

if Ben White is important to Brighton, why have they not offered him an improved contract? Why does Potter only mention White when media ask about him, why have BHA just bought an Dutch International CB? They are going to cash in and sell White which means we have a chance but White would need to turn down a big money move to Liverpool or Man City

I think you’re right, there’s not a hope in hell that White will be a Brighton player next season, Potter’s just trying to maximise his market value.
