The decision rests with the ref. The technology is just there to help - if it fails he makes the decision. He got it wrong.

I think a change needs to be made for next year that says that the VAR will look at incidents like this also.

I don't think it's the same.. I heard it wasnt switched on. I'm also empathetic and wise enough to know nufc fans and the club or would raise the issue if it was them.. whether they've got a case or not its a valid complaint is all I said.

    if nobody complains nothing changes

We probably would - that doesn't make it a valid complaint.

Apparently the thing was switched on but they said none of the Hawkeye sensors/cameras had an unobstructed view - which in itself is ridiculous as it was quite clear from the VAR/TV cameras.

So if there wasn't Goal Line technology and the linesman had missed it and the ref didn't give it would that also be a valid complaint? Because that is all Goal Line technology and VAR, linesmen are - aids to assist the referee. If they don't assist him he has to make the decision.

No I know that - I am asking you why is this any different to if any of the other referee's aids failed? Sure it's a cause for a moan but not for legal action. If you participate in the game of football you have to accept that it is the referee who makes the decisions. You will notice that even when VAR is used to check a refereeing decision that it is the referee who finally indicates "My original decision has been checked by VAR and based on that, this is now my decision".
