He's the chairman yes so it would appear the prem know it and PIF are tapdancing around the answer most likley because they can potentially fail it ? so they're going to hide behind lack of info ?
Possibly makes a difference in as much that if Stavely/Reuben Brothers are shown to be in charge with PIF simply "investors" (or similar), the O&D process becomes a whole lot simpler than if PIF are deemed to be in charge?
I go back to money... surely like everything else in this world... the £££ benefit outweighs the morality side?
It obviously isn't, they can find anyone to do it, producing a name isnt a problem. The issue I think is Bin Salman's name is on the PIF tin but he's not involved. They need someone to be responsible for the club, not a fella who can be sacked. The real reason is probably that the PIF are untouchable and the Prem are intimidated by them running a club in the league.
This is what I'd have thought. The whole split of the deal reeks of the Saudi's knowing they can't assume full control at the outset and them wanting to put in place some respected UK based heads to help the deal sail through. The Reubens are one of our richest families ffs. Can't get any clearer than that. which is why things seem odd to me.
Ultimately means the PL can wash their hands too - if the new owners of NUFC choose to go with investment from Saudi, it's not the Prem League's issue .... Handy bit of slopey shoulder responsibility dodging
if it's not a problem then why are they not happy with the answer given ? it appears to me that they're trying to link MBS .. why try if it doesn't matter ? why not just pass it if it doesn't matter ? I suspect he will be involved and they're hiding it but the prems lawyers aren't buying it. it might of course all be bullshit anyway?
so then what's the problem ? why are they so concerned who has the final say ? something obvs isn't transparent enough and it's enough for the premier league lawyers to say oh no you don't.
MBS is the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, if they said he was unfit to run a football club there'd be an incident. I'm gonna presume its because if theres any financial mismanagement in play you want an individual responsible, not some random hired help. Its not a ****ing smoke screen, its two different methods of operating. Not a single other PIF purchase has faced this problem, this is normal practice in the business world. The Premier League is just old fashioned and ****.
What baffles me is the fact it’s supposed to be so confidential & no information can be spread further than the PL or the buyers/sellers. Yet somehow someone found out about this “worried who’s going to be in charge” lark on. Where do they get this info from if it’s meant to be kept so private?
it's the link to piracy that's the issue surely? who knows it's anyone's guess but there is most certain problems. 4 months
it was jason burt that broke the story in March and it was Jason Burt that broke this yesterday.. the BBC followed his report and so did the others ...
The prem will never ever prove without doubt a link to piracy. Delaying the inevitable, it will pass.
