Good Morning. It's Tuesday 28th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Big things expected from Charlie Allen Teenage sensation Charlie Allen has bid farewell to David Healy's Linfield Town, and is expected at Elland Road in the next few days to sign terms. The 16yo attacking midfielder was given a farewell party in his hometown of Carrickfergus on Saturday night and is due to meet with the Leeds Utd hierarchy to pun pen to payer for the first time in his young career. Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Spurs and Rangers all threw their hats into the ring, but Leeds impressed Allen's family with a detailed dossier on his abilities and achievements as well as their impressive set up at Thorp Arch which has now won Category one status. Meanwhile, current Thorp Arch graduate Alfie McCalmont is set to sign a three year contract at Elland Road. The exciting 20yo midfielder is due to put pen to paper shortly, and is then expected to go out on a season long loan, along with Gotts, Edmonson, Bogusz, Cresswell and Miazek. please log in to view this image And the League Managers Association Manager of the year (for the Championship) goes to....... Marcelo Bielsa has responded to winning the LMA Manager of the year award for the Championship in typical style. The 65yo was quick to thanks all those involved at Elland Road, especially the fans! "Good evening. First of all I wish to apologise for not delivering this message in English," Bielsa said. "Secondly I would like to say thank you for this award. It's of special importance to me because the votes were cast by the coaches in the league that Leeds have won. "The fact that my colleagues have recognised my contribution is so important to me. "Awards are usually recognition for achievements by a particular team. In this case it's the recognition of the title Leeds have won. "I know how much help on the path towards this achievement that I have received. I'd like to thank the club and the authorities who hired me for the chance to work in English football. "And the fans for their support, contribution and love they have shown towards me and every member of staff who has worked alongside the players this year. "In this regard there are many unnamed people who are key to the work. The biggest thank you is to the players themselves because they are the ones doing the most difficult job in football that is playing, competing and this case clinching. "The coaches are always the product of the players we get to coach. I'd like to stress how grateful I am to them. "I'd also like to thank the body in charge of the award. Thank you very much everyone it has been a pleasure speaking to you." please log in to view this image Next season..... With Bielsa at the helm, and a healthy budget at his disposal, where would you expect Leeds to finish the 20/21 season? Are there any first team players that you are concerned about that may be out of their depth in the Premiership? Who should Captain Leeds during their nexc campaign? please log in to view this image
Finishing mid table will be a massive result I think players who wont cut it in the Prem are Alioski and Roberts but not sure if the club will be brutal in allowing players who played a part in promotion, to leave. But Bielsa uses a small group always so will he change his beliefs? If 4 players come in you would expect 3 or 4 to go replacements needed for White and Berardi a must Back up Pablo Back up for Bamford So theres 4 new players required without looking at replacing Kiko or have a back up for Phillips, but we know Bielsa likes Forshaw but is he cover for Phillips or has Struijk nailed down that role now Bielsa likes players who can play in different positions, so the likes of Johnathan David play and score goals from anywhere in the attacking midfield, wide left, wide right, in the hole and lone striker. The striker from Stuttgart Also scores from wide and central. Thiago Almada plays anywhere in attacking midfield so can do Pablo and thats where he plays mostly now as well as flying winger. He scores and creates. Martinez Quarta plays anywhere in defence but is known as a big strong ball carrying CB
Morning all. I normally wait a few games to comment on new signings. That period needs to be a lot longer under Bielsa. Remember the fanfares some recent signings have come with only to get a few minutes of game time. Theres more to playing for Leeds than just a hefty price tag ie Augustin. If we can get three or four players in of a quality to play every week, in other words, better than we already have, we can finish top half. If we're starting the same eleven every week that finished the season we could struggle
With Brentford in the play offs and a late season finish, will be interesting to see if Jannson tells Brentford he's taking a couple of extra weeks holiday. Lol
Total agreement, why talk about this player or that player without the key ingredient, it's like driving a car with no steering wheel.
I do think its a good little sign that though on his award thanks video he was wearing an Adidas hoodie. I know its only a small thing, but he always is wearing club attire, and not its not Kappa anymore, good to see him in Adidas.
It’s Interesting that fans have very different ideas which of the current squad will struggle in the Prem. It will also be interesting to see who is right.
As soon as he turned up at Goodison on Sunday you knew he was still our manager There will be a list of names given to the club and he will expect to see an attempt to get the players he wants. He wont sign a new deal on promises as Lazio found out. By all accounts Orta has spoken to Gonzales club, Thiago Almada’s club, Davids club and Martinez Quartas. I think that shows the ambition of the club so therefore I expect Bielsa to sign this week or next. UK based players slower process as Play Offs still going on
Cardiff 0 Fulham 2 last night. When will we see Sparkles next? Today? Tomorrow? Next week Next season?
Phil Hay confirming Leeds like Quarta and have had him watched and it seems Leeds are the first overseas club talking to River Plate about him. Quartas agent says the wheels will start turning in the next few days as Quarta needs to move abroad to England
Good Morning to Matt Doc and co from a slightly sunny Bardsey I think Kiko needs to go along with Bamford who has struggled in a lower league Roberts has age on his side so I would give him more time We need 2 CB 2 STRIKERS and a midfield player David Brook who scored against us for Sheff U
Players out of their depth in the PL. I'll ignore youth players like Struijk. 1. Cassilla. I mean he struggled in the Championship. He's not good enough. 2. Bamford. You can't afford to miss chances like he has in the top division. We won't get as many so need to be more clinical. May be better coming off the bench late in games. 3. Costa and Harrison. These come as a pair but only if we don't get a striker to replace Bamford. My thinking is that the front three need more goals. If Bamford is a starting striker then these two positions have to add more goals to the team, something they have failed to do.
Good call that in my opinion. Id be happy to see 2 and 3 as squad players only and hopefully have better than the three of them starting. Mid table would be a very real prospect then
Good morning all I agree with what most Leeds fans are saying, that a mid table finish would be great, but i can tell you someone who wouldn't agree, and would only have eyes for a top six finish or better and that's Bielsa. Can you imagine the euphoria if that happened & i wouldn't say he couldn't do it either with just one or two additions. I mean the man's a bloody footballing genius.
