Dier worries me, I don’t mind having him in the squad as utility player but I’d still like to see another CB signed. Obivously DM and full backs are the priority and bare minimum but another CB and ST should be addressed too, otherwise the squad is always 1 injury away from a crisis
Bayern supposedly interested in signing Aarons according to Sky Germany. So erm, how many more RBs are left for us?
And Norwich have just signed a new young RB today Hearing Norwich will accept £20million for Aarons, Spurs should be all over that
In terms of CBs, we have three obvious options Kim Min-jae - strongly linked, certainly affordable...but his club are playing silly buggers Robin Koch - certainly more polished than Kim, definitely Levyable...but bastarding his way out of Freiburg causes concerns Dayot Upamecano - the strongest option, certainly a degree of Levyability...but a likely transfer scrum this summer As things currently stand, namely with Beijing Guoan doing their best to impersonate Marseille in that cursed summer of Batshuayi/Nkoudou, I'm thinking we should be going for...and I know this is something I should not say out loud...we really need to think about going for Koch
I certainly believe there is a place for Foyth in the team, specifically in a Ben Davies-like role at RB which he has certainly shown he can be a very useful player in that role - and it has to be said that if we do let him go it's a certainty that he'll blow up somewhere else and we'll look like a bunch of dorks, which coincidentally is why I'm cringing in anticipation at the rumours of Yuri Berchiche heading to Barca
My guess would be him staying or not depends on how highly Jose trusts Tanganga. If JT is considered reliable enough to be 4th choice and a serious, regular rotation option then Foyth can be the promising youngster who gets minutes here and there, if Jose fancies him for that. Otherwise I imagine we’ll make an addition and Foyth will be looking for a new club if he wants to play. All the evidence suggests Jose is with the majority of us on the Tanganga train, so Foyth staying might not be the outlandish possibility myself and probably others thought it might have been.
I also like Foyth as a player but I just don't see a viable route for him into the first team. Jose's favoured Aurier since he's been here and with a new RB surely coming in, that very much likely shuts the door on RB for Foyth unless Aurier is sold. As for CB, Tanganga's emergence screwed him up. He was already around fourth choice and with Tanganga now leapfrogging him (at RB too tbh) there isn't really a way for him to get sufficient game time for someone of his age. At 22 he's also got the chance to cement his international spot for the next decade, playing a bit part role won't do him any favours on that front. A loan may be a decent possibility but even then, will much change on his return? I guess that'd depend on where he's loaned too and how he performs, along with how we perform too.
I would be open to keeping Foyth as a RB/RCB if it meant signing a new first choice RB and selling Aurier.
I don’t think Aurier is going anywhere unless he actively wants to go back to France following his brother’s death, assuming his family live there.
There were rumours of him looking to do that going around a week or two before his brother's death, IIRC With any luck, Paul Mitchell is looking to bring him to Monaco
Could be. That’ll be two RBs we need though if that happens. We need renewal but we all know how bringing in too many players can go, especially given what we need elsewhere (definitely a DM and backup striker, possibly another deep lying creative midfielder if Tanguy is gone, and maybe a backup LB and 3rd choice GK). We need minimum 3 players, possibly 6. Two RBs would take that to 4/7. That’s a lot of squad disruption in my books. Unless we commit to Foyth being a RB.
I've hurt my foot and have to spend a week with it in ice and elevated...so I'm bored enough to look at Sky Sports, where I see this as their main story... Paul Merson: Harry Kane would make Man Utd massive Premier League title challengers https://www.skysports.com/football/...-utd-massive-premier-league-title-challengers Oh, Merse..... please log in to view this image ....Now, Aubameyang to United........? please log in to view this image
Whenever I see Merson on the TV all I can hear is " sell Kane blah blah blah , sell Dele blah blah blah sell Son blah blah blah " that's all he's good for
I know...it seems the only thing that he's still capable of. One thing that isn't happening this summer? We're not selling Kane. Time for Merse to retire.
Wouldn’t even say possibly mate, we do need them. The 18/19 windows are still having its effects. I said at the time and stand by it, we committed footballing suicide that season as a club by not replenishing the ranks. We’re playing catch up because of it and likely will do for at least one or two more windows - and that’s based on getting positive results from signings as well. The football manager addict in me would have a field day in the transfer market, both with buying and selling.
