I am trying to be objective here and not wanting to upset anyone but I am not sure why you turned on SH here. He put forward his view which was not confrontational, it may not be everybody's view and if some should disagree it should be discussed amicably.

You are correct that it was the Watford scouting system who uncovered Richarlison. Silva later tried to claim credit for discovering him, but Watford's scouts had been watching Richarlison for more than one year. Silva was merely asked whether he wanted to sign him (when the first player on the list was not available) and he watched some DVDs of Richarlison play. Silva was keen and - together with Gomes - helped to persuade Richarlison to choose Watford (using their common language of Portuguese) when Richarlison was on the verge of signing for Ajax.

Do not forget about Ben Wilmot, who is injured at the moment, when discussing defenders.

I would like to see Penaranda (who has only just turned 23) given a chance. Pearson said that he is a very talented player, but he has never played in the Premier League although he has made the bench. Perhaps there is a some problem about which we do not know. I hope that we shall see Cucho, but there is a report suggesting that he may sign for Villarreal. I would also like to see Suarez and Estupinan play for Watford, but I think that they probably have higher ambitions and I doubt that they will want to play in the Championship. Joao Pedro is potentially a great talent, but I am not sure how he will cope with the physicality of the Championship.

Honest WFC statement from Pozzo and Duxbury outlining their determination to continue their good work we have all enjoyed over the past eight years. The club was valued at £300 million a couple of years ago, they will want their investment to reach that figure again a.s.a.p. I have every faith they will deliver within a couple of years. Our team was very poor this year, on this basis we deserved to be relegated.
A year or so in the Championship could be fun, let's hope so. :emoticon-0107-sweat

    Thanks.
The comment from the club has also been good to read. The Bank loan facility is also a good sign. I'm sure our 'model' is a good one, but it has to work properly too. It's a pity the absolute silence over NP's departure has simply encouraged a whole pile of unpleasant trolling , but I guess we look forwards and upwards. I just hope we can get the better players of this season to stay and really commit (some will, some won't of course) , our loanees that are any good will turn up and surprise us, and maybe we'll find another Richarlison gem as well.
I've just read bhappy = I commend it to everyone - especially Sutton & souness.

It may seem to be a minor thing, but I do wish that they would cut out the slogans. "Match day experience" sounds like a visit to a theme park, "Match Pack" sounds like an unknown product from a brewery, "Match Dashboard" reminds me of a Ford Popular. As my friend in advertising will tell you simple phrases like these are remembered, but I don't need a Janet and John book anymore. Grump over.

Refreshing to read a post from you that is neither unpleasant or unnecessarily provocative , and isn't factually incorrect. However, I can't help noticing your obsession with money. Do you reduce everything to a number in STG as a measure of success. I thought it was striking that the WFC statement scrupulously avoided any reference to finance, which is quite an achievement in itself, given the nature of the EPL.

I think the biggest flaw in the model has been changing the coaching staff every time a new Head Coach has been brought in
Mullins and Stack have I feel shown they have the potential to fit the main roles in the not too distant future
They could carry out their roles under Pearson with whoever the new Head Coach is that way we get continuity regardless of what happens to the next Head Coach
Remember when GT criticised EJ for changing all the back room staff when he appointed new managers after GT left, in his words the coaching staff and backroom staff know the club and its values, you only need to change the Manager
And, yes Giraldi seems to have the attitude that I buy the players and you play them when I tell you to

I am sure the Pozzo business plan did not include relegation at the start of the season and when they saw the writing on the wall they did something by appointing Pearson and it very nearly worked. The Barclays loan and probably other things we are unaware of mean that they are preparing for life in the Championship and it must be there plan to return to the EPL next season if at all possible. It is to be hoped that they have learned from the mistakes they have made this season and I would not mind betting they have.

Sadly football today is all about £ so it is important to make this part of the commentary on here and I have enjoyed reading all your views and concur with most of them and I look forward to the next chapter in our journey and I am thankful the Pozzo's are not giving us up.

Admittedly I had forgotten about Wilmot - but the last I heard he had been injured & may not be available for the start of next season?
Penaranda's loan spells haven't exactly inspired confidence - his last one at Eupen was cut short due to attitude problems if I remember rightly and others have seen him used sparingly.
Re Pedro - when he arrived he looked like a stick insect but has bulked up since then. I'd like to think that he'll keep that up over the summer break.

As for the others - I guess it could depend on how Gino sells the idea to them. There's not a lot of money in the game at the moment so he may be wanting a decent return on his investments that a transfer won't bring. I think Estupinan only has one year left on his contract -and Suarez' finished last month, unless it was extended, so that may all be moot.

I would have thought it was blindingly obvious the Pozzo family bought an English football club to make money. To pretend otherwise is missing the point. The fact that they are seeking to make money does not exclude all the benefits which they have bestowed on our club. Their involvement has been superb for our supporters especially the lengths they go to respecting our history. I do not know details of their business plan but I guess they will eventually be looking for a well deserved substantial profit on their speculative punt.

You should try to discuss without personal insults, your insinuations are unpleasant as usual.

The whole of the next football season in England could be played in front of reduced capacities and crowd sizes could be further impacted if chanting is proven to heighten transmission risk, a senior government adviser has said. If such a system operated throughout an entire season it would impact on many clubs that do not have the luxury of parachute payments. Quite how you decide who can go and watch remains to be seen, but the grounds with the largest capacities should have the largest crowds, if crowds is the right word.

I guess contracts mean nothing these days - respectively, they have two and three years left on theirs.
As for the coaches - that's a bit of a nothing statement. I think anyone not connected to the club could have accurately stated that. So we can presumably expect a British has-been nobody else wants, or another continental unknown.:(

It seems that Cucho is still having work permit problems - won't be joining the squad until January.

All things being equal, we may get to see him in a Watford shirt next April...;)

    Sorry Scully....

For me football is neither a ' match day experience' nor do i rave about a superb Premier League.... what is important is my team doing well.

He posted ONCE during the entire debacle.... never posts on anything other than politics and his views on money etc etc . Look at his posting profile for yourself on the member page.... and he relishes getting into spats with others

    He generates these responses.....

I see he continues to wind up others on this thread with his unique style which is all countenanced in so called 'sensible' (and he means Tory) logic and calling out 'whingers' who dont understand 'business' etc etc. I imagine he is enjoying seeing you fall to his so called defence. I doubt you would do so if he was a self affirmed 'leftie'.

It all does not add up............

To this day i remain unconvinced that he is a genuine Watford football supporter..........

We have seen this problem several times with the young players that Watford have wanted to get on their books, and these are the very ones that the Pozzo model relies upon to get their potential big money sales on. The normal route seems to have been via Spain and they kick around there until the Home Office gets its act together. This will change next year, and as a Championship side unable to bring in the big names, it could create a real problem for the Pozzos.
