Luque was bloody atrocious, I refuse to believe he even knew how to play football. We were playing with 10 men whenever he was on the pitch. He even said himself he was a "tourist" over here and he named a ridiculous wage figure that he thought he'd never get and we signed it without a second thought. He did nothing after he left here and his career ended, he was an utter waste of money and made Owen seem like a good purchase. Xisco was some useless knacker no one had heard of who spent 5 years either in the reserves or out on loan cos none of our managers wanted to play him cos he was **** and nowhere near first team level.
Cacapa, captained Lyon to several league victories, signed for us forgot how to play football. Joelinton, there's talent in there, just not sure we play in a way that will get it out of him. He'd probably be able to play wide in a front three or drop deep as per Firmino, but he's not a target to lead as a lone striker. Basically hes the wrong tool for the job, you can have the best drill on the world, but if you need a jack hammer, it's not going to do the job you want it to. Wonder if we would opt for someone like Callum Wilson to lead the line for us next season, allowing Joelinton to play a less central role?
Deeney & Carroll, could be interesting to defend against! We'll turn up to Watford to negotiate and come away with Danny Welbeck instead!
Oh our-lease, your defence of Xisco is always baffling, are you his mum or something? If he was anything other than dogshit he would have managing more than 9 appearances in 5 years. He was never even close to the first team, oh wow wee he got a tap in vs Hull and played a pass vs Villa when he was brought on as a late sub when they were already 5 nil down and all over shop. He also got a hat trick against Stoke City reserves, that's pretty much the highlights of his career here. Stephane Guivarc'h also got a goal for us, didn't stop him being **** though.... Or do you love him too? and Luque is a strong contender for the worst player in the history of the club, any defence of him is utterly farcical.
But you spend most of your time on here going around in circles in arguments, so why would that be an issue? I just find your continued defence of Xisco and Luque baffling, 2 players who had more than enough time to prove themselves here, and were totally horrific. Luque, Xisco and Marcelino, which one was worse? I really can't decide.
Be baffled and it's about who's the worst signing in case you forgot. I tried to explain you ignored it Shearer Owen Luque ameobi isn't making that squad 1 goal and 1 assist in 9 appearances is statistical proof he did better than he cost 5 million. I rest my case Sit down
*facepalm* I refer to my Stephane Guivarc'h comparison, he got one goal in 4 games for us, does that make him a great striker? David Nugent got 1 goal in 1 game for England, does that mean he should have been a regular striker? Xisco only played 9 league games cos he was never anywhere near the first team... Does the fact he played 9 games in 5 years tell you anything about how the managers rated him? Joelinton would have got into that squad cos Owen was always injured and Luque was horrificly bad. Not saying Joelinton is a world beater, he's just easily better than Luque was. I'll remain standing.
you've proved to me that you have lost the plot completely who's saying anyone's a good striker ? it's about who been the worst signing #facepalm .. you plonker now sit down
Oh FFS, no it was originally about who was the worst Brazilian, you've chosen to bring money into it which is a completely incorrect and misleading way to look at things. The worst signing means who is the worst player we've signed, not some wierd and wonderful value for money analysis that ignores all the effects of inflation. You're directly comparing the purchase costs of Xisco and Luque to Joelinton, which you simply can't go cos money in football has changed hugely since then. We signed Luque for £12m,which was a huge amount of money at the time, he was close to being our record signing. At the time we also bought back the very talented Nobby Solano from Villa for £2m, which illustrates how much we were paying for Luque. He failed to be anything like we expected, and lots didn't believe he was even a footballer. £40m now would be the equivalent of £12m or less then, NOT £40m back then, we did not buy Joelinton expecting twice as much as we got from Shearer.
nope I'm comparing goals per game and taking money in to account among other reasons you ignored and them argued separate ones .. you even started implying ive said they were great.. silly or dumb I'm not sure which so ive assumed both now sit down you're always chipping away making snide remarks I'm tired of it . ending convo here going around in circles.
What do mean I'm always chipping away, you're the one who responded to me in the first place and you're the one who started the name calling. It was about who's the worst signing ie player, and you tried to present misleading statistics to prove an incorrect point, ie goals per game is completely inappropriate when a player is here for FIVE YEARS and only manages 9 games, and value for money can't be directly compared via the price of a player now with one from 15 years ago unless you take into account inflation and the level of similar signings at the time.
no you started getting personal first .. like I say I'm tired of it let's leave it there we don't agree... you disrespected my opinion hence this tittle tattle. no hard feelings
I don't see why it has to get heated. I am genuinely interested in discussing this subject, and hearing why some people defend certain players that others regularly slate. It's just conversation, like.
