28/1 with W Hill. (14/1 Betfred). Might be worth chancing a bet to lay off on the Exchange.

Its 29 on the exchanges last I checked so it would have to be an in running job and there is no guarantee about him trading shorter. The one I thought looked a back to lay in the race was Watch Chain, if he bounces back today hes a cert to be travelling well 2 out. Hes 19 on betfair just now but for peanuts, id be surprised if he didnt trade alot shorter in running. Its a very hard race, 10 pounds between 16 horses, typical sprint handicap I suppose.

Just out of interest Joe, as I don't bet, what is your reasoning for Hand Painted? It's a very difficult race to assess; have you any info on it?

Its not info!! Just my own selection.

You could look to number of horses in the race and say, if this bounces back to its best, it would have a great chance. Hand Painted was the one I ended up at because I thought he was potentially the most overpriced, he has run well at the track off higher marks and I think the return to faster ground should suit him. Hes not one for a big bet, small e/w for me. The draw looks bad but they tend to race over towards the far side when they turn in at Warwick so im hoping that wont be too much of a problem. I believe its John Faheys only mount at the meeting and I think he is a decent claimer, seems to get the best out of his horses.

the whole 'straight from the trainer' bit does somewhat imply you have info straight from the trainer....

It's Joe's trademark but newer members wouldn't be aware of that.

What is fascinating though Joe, before you had your own column you had a very high ratio of good priced winners that showed an incredible profit that can not be achieved by luck. Since then you don't seem to be anywhere near so successful. Is there a reason for that?

Couldnt tell you Ron, if you notice, most of my good priced winners were in sprint handicaps, after all these sprinters have run 5 and 6 times, it becomes a case of, whos going to come back to form today. Horses go up and down in the weights, come in and out of form and the races become more of a lottery as the season goes on. Ive been backing winners, just havent been posting all my bets, just decided to post today because it was a huge price. Thats all I can put it down to.

Would probably say I have not been as dedicated as I was at the start of the flat season, I love the flat, and I find it very easy to put the hours in at the start of the season with the buzz but it wears off and it becomes a chore at times. Not much at all has caught my imagination this year, the one horse I was looking forward to all year was Pour Moi in the Arc and he gets injured, pretty much sums up my season.

Like mine last year Joe. I was all keyed up to go to Longchamp last year to see Harbinger.
