Luque, Guivarc'h, Boumsong, Xisco, Riviere, both the De Jongs, Thauvin, Bassadas??

And that's just off the top of my head.

    Oh yeah and Wayne Fereday.

OK we payed a ****ton for Joelinton, but he's got some talent and he can play, we've seen recently when he has decent support around him rather than leading the line, he can be effective, I think there's more to come of him. You can't really compare him to a "are you really a football player?" type clown like Luque or Boumsong.

A stinking horror signing is one that involves a costly outlay, performs badly or little at all and then is sold on for a pittance or on a freebie with the garnish of poison.
Owen scored goals but really stank out St.James's. Marcelino was another stinker, along with Luque and Thauvin.

Naff in the Prem, smashes it up in the inferior French league. Same with Luuk De Jong, great in a crap league but crap in a decent one.

Thauvin looked out of his depth, and had a major attitude problem and whined all the time. No thanks.

Did you ever see Albert Luque play? Or the defensive amboniations that were Marcelino and Boumsing?

We can't really say "pound for pound", as inflation in player prices is ridiculous, ie the £12m we paid for Luque was a huge amount of money at the time, as was the £8m for Boumsong. £40m for a striker though is about normal these days.

Joelinton ain't a world beater, but he can actually play football, Luque and Boumsing couldn't.

See the post I just made, you can't compare like for like prices with those from 15 years ago.

We paid £700k for Rob Lee, and it was a huge price at the time.

Yes he scored vs the Mackems, and remember the chant? "4-1 even Luque scored".

    Here's todays question on GC
    Monday 27th July 2020:

Which ten Brazilians had five or more Premier League Goals or Assists in 2019-20?

Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison, Willian, Roberto Firmino, Lucas Moura, Wesley, Bernard, Douglas Luiz, Fabinho and Felipe Anderson.

    No mention of Joelinton!
How many of those players cost £40m?

Job Dahl Tomasson was "the one that got away", we played him as lead striker when he was way too young and inexperienced, he leaves and becomes one of the best Danish players ever.

Thauvin was a lazy whiney bitch with a bad attitude, he said Shearer criticising him fror wearing a tuxedo affected his performances FFS.

Being our record signing isn't his fault tbf, someone put a stupid price tag on him and we fell for it.

He was **** at leading the line, but playing with a striker like Gayle alongside him, we definitely saw some talent from him, he was skillful and strong and good at holding up play and taking out defenders to make room for others.

Yes his goal tally is ****, but he's definitely a better player than Luque, Boumsong, Marcelino, Fumaca, Xisco, Bassasdas, Fereday etc.
