So Grealish is mildly better than Dele in his worst ever season. If he played instead of Winks or Sissoko then we'd likely concede 10 more goals a season as he simply can't defend. I really don't understand your obsession with him.

Winks usually performs pretty well for England to be fair. He dictates play from deep at international level in a way he can’t in the PL because he gets more time. Against most teams we can get away with it though against the top teams you probably want a DM in there, whether you sacrifice Henderson or Winks for that player is another matter.

For us at PL level though he’s a squad player. Just not quite technically or positionally good enough to play the same role in the PL as he does for England, even if he does occasionally pick out a nice pass and will put a shift in.

Well by that logic we'd score 10/20 more goals a season then seeing as Winks or Sissoko can't play a meaningful forward pass to save their life.

I'm 'obsessed' because we had the chance to sign the exact type of player this club is crying out for, for peanuts, ballsed it up and are now watching him prove to the world how good he is before he likely secures a big money move to a top club.

If Spurs had signed Grealish then probably wouldn’t have got Lo Celso

Which one of the two would you prefer?

Impossible to directly answer that to be honest.

Individually, Grealish has had a better season than Lo Celso but Lo Celso will be the better player in a years or so time.

We badly needed Grealish back in 2018/19 and after the season Ndombele has had, coupled with Winks and Sissoko playing so much, we still needed him this season.

I would have happily had him back then but he would have been a squad player only. I doubt anyone will pay more than £25m for him even now. Dele would fetch twice that. It might just be good business to sell Dele and buy Grealish but it could go badly wrong.

He would've, he'd have eventually taken Dembele's place and played alongside one of Sissoko, Winks or Dier, probably Sissoko.

I guarantee you that if Grealish leaves Villa it'll be for more than £25m. He's already being sniffed at by Utd with fees of £50m quoted, whilst I wouldn't be completely surprised if Pep takes a punt and have him compete with Foden to replace David Silva. If we end up deciding to cut our losses with Ndombele, especially if Barca remain interested, then we may go back in for him but it's doubtful I'd say.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll get that much for Dele nowadays, his stock has massively fallen. In 2017 (not that I'd have sold him back then) he was probably valued at around £90m-£100m when taking into consideration his first two seasons, his age and home grown status. Three years of inconsistency since then and I don't even think we'd get half that now.

I think, had Villa got relegated, teams could definitely be looking to get Grealish for the £25m mark. But the fact he's single-handedly (more or less anyway) kept Villa in the league will definitely mean it takes at least double that to prize him away. He's by far their most valuable player. He's been the most fouled player in the league this season which is quite astonishing when you look at how conservatively Villa play. He's also got 3 years left on his contract, so his value is protected. Unless there's a release clause that was in his contract, Villa have room to play hard ball here.

Also, Roy Hodgson has declared that Zaha wants to move again and, this time, will find it harder to get in his way.

I'm not sure where he goes now though. Would you lot take him? Would Everton be back in the market for him? I can't see that many suitors if he wants to play in the Prem. He may have to look abroad...

BBC were reporting Palace would accept fees upward of £40m.

    Zaha at Spurs under Jose?
I just can’t see it. Especially when Spurs won’t spend big and other areas in the team need addressing first.

Personally I’d sell Lamela and Lucas and get in Zaha but that’s just me

Not anymore. If we didn’t have Bergwijn I’d have been open to the idea of going for Zaha but a winger/ wide forward isn’t a priority to be splashing loads of dough on at the moment.

    Fraser on a free though...

Zaha shines in a midtable team but I just don’t see the output for him to succeed at a top 6 club, let alone him being the kind of player Jose would jump for. Plus he’s 27. Just a big no for me.

Interesting that you brought up Zaha , as I was catching up on the thread and reading about Grealish , I was thinking about how Sir Alex bought Zaha who didn't succeed at United, hence he returned. Sometimes , players don't fit in, players with potential don't cut it in a top team. Zaha has generally been very good for Palace and wins a lot of fouls/ goes down very easily .
Hence I see a lot of similarity between the two ( Grealish falls over a lot ) and am not convinced Grealish would be such a success at a 'top' club.
He is head and shoulders above his teammates but would he be so good if surrounded by better players?

Grealish I think he could be. Zaha just doesn’t have the end product to go with the flicks and tricks. If him and Townsend had any consistency they’d both still be at their top 6 clubs, or if they were at Palace, the team would be closer to pushing top 10

It's funny cos I have not heard anyone on Sky BT, BBC or the printed press refer to Leicester coming 5th in a three horse race or them bottling it.

Can only imagine the ****e being thrown at us if happened to Spurs.

But hey...no anti spurs bias in the media ... no sireeee!

The amount of club bias generally in the media is just getting ridiculous. Some pundits deliver genuinely insightful analysis but you shouldn’t be able to so obviously tell who played for who. I get that people like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher can never be fully disassociated from their clubs, and that their sparring is part of the appeal of pairing them up, but generally speaking it’s just got to silly levels the past season or two.

Seeing talk on Twitter that Arsenal are interested in Zaha.

I hope it happens, it means yet another window where they likely neglect their backline and midfield baring in mind how much he’d likely cost.
