No manager in any sport would survive his record unless it is a outcome you want. We went down wages dropped by 50% and relegation clauses will be in every contract so the "better" players will be sold anyway. We will be financially run like a League 2 club next season another relegation will follow. By then the last of the Bowen & Maguire money will have come in and then it will finally be be c'est la vie.
Just listened to Curtis Woodhouse talking with Matt Dean, he firmly puts the blame on the players and says McCann should have the chance to rectify the relegation. That is pretty much what Ash said to Burnsey also.
I really dont understand why both Ash & Woodhouse would say that. Yes the players take a lot of the blame but they're McCann's players.. Isnt it only De Wijs, Burke & Long that Adkins signed? It's McCann's team that he brought in, he selects the players to try and win a game, its his man management of those players.. Really annoying that anyone associated with the club could back McCann at this point. If he looked like he tried to stop the rot, changing formation, players, anything... but he never. He saw the absolute crap we were playing and turned out the same **** week after week.
I totally agree, McCann is the one who makes the decisions and he has to live or die by them. I got the feeling with Curtis, that he was not wanting to blot his copy book with either McCann or the Allam's. He loaned 2 of our younger players for Gainsborough last season, and may want to do it again, he was very appreciative to Mccann for those loans. Also he would like to be City manager one day, so maybe he just wants to play the safe track and not criticise people he may need in future.
I don't get why there's such a debate about who is to blame at failing clubs, between the players and manager. Obviously the players are the only ones who can perform and their performance is ultimately responsible so there is no question that they to blame. Obviously the manager is the one person whose actual job it is to get them to perform. If you find yourself saying something like "the players didn't perform for him" then you are saying that the manager has failed to get them to perform. That is literally his job. Warnock went into Boro and made the same players play better. Everyone in football knew he would do that because we've seen it so many times before.
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/grant-mccann-hull-city-future-4365458 I hadn't really studied what he'd achieved (or not achieved) so far, or probably had but had forgotten. Nothing really. I expected I was going to read something reasonably impressive, painting a picture of an up and coming manager before he came here? But there's next to nothing of any comfort or hope there. And now with the evidence of what's happened this season? I'd feel more positive if the evidence suggested he was a fast learner .... but it suggests the opposite. The only reasoning to keep him can surely only be a) Ehab not wanting to lose face, and / or b) cost (not wanting to pay compensation for a sacking .... but you would think the best run club in the country would have some sort of relegation clause in the managers contract wouldn't you?). And as for Cliff Byrne! Nothing. Depressing.
Woodhouse has toned down a bit recently, because he wants chairmen to take him on. So he can’t be too scathing. Ash probably sells watches to Mcannt.
Dunno, I normally bump into him from time to time, but with lock-down I've not seen him since last year.
Has he bought out the business people reckoned Duffen was involved in? I wouldn't have thought the snake oil market was that lucrative these days.
Wish him the best of luck (he is my all time city favourite) with that particular path. Had a look last/this year and full of scammers. Hard to spot initially but once you spot one they are easy to expose. Same with gold, diamonds, and jet fuel. However if you find someone genuine who can actually supply, then a good way to make an excellent living.
