I had an original Korg MS20 in the 80’s. Be worth a few quid now I reckon.

I am using the Sire V7 Gen 2. Its the Marcus Miller branded Bass, for the price its excellent.

Like @PISKIE the plan is to move on to a Stingray cos they're sexy. But I've always liked Rickenbacker... which is somehow controversial <laugh>

If you like the sound of a Jazz bass. You can get a Mexican made Fender Jazz for about 1/2 price of a US made one.

Stingrays are expensive, but for me they are the brilliant. I play a maple neck bass because I like a nice bright and punchy sound. The stingray is legendary for that booming bottom end, with a nice bright top end. Perfect for slap bass and that punchy funky sound.

I don’t know if they still make them, but Ernie Ball used to make a copy under the OLP brand. They are well made basses with a lovely neck, good action and quality tuning pegs etc. I used to have one ages ago before I bought my first Stingray. They are passive basses, rather than the active electronics in a musicman. But I swapped out the pickup for a seamour Duncan humbucker and the sound was immense. And that was all in a bass that cost me around £300

I was looking at the Fender cos its just so ****ing iconic. Its THE bass init. But its always the price that stops me, I'll definitely look at a foreign made one soon.

But so far the Sire is great. Especially for the price.

Everyone around him is in the group. They lead the non stop chanting, in the Fratton end.

Having said all that, I wouldn't sit in front of him either. He smells of beer.

Yeah it all depends on your budget bro. Can't go wrong with a Fender Jazz, they have got a lovely warm rounded sound. I've often thought about getting a fretless rosewood neck Jazz, for something a bit different to the Stingray, but yeah they are big beanz.

Squire and Mexican made Jazz basses might be an option for you. Also have a look on ebay, as there's always basses on there and you can save yourself some £££ buying second hand. Not unless it's an original 60s/70s Jazz bass though, where you'll be looking a north of £2.5k...

  12. My main axes are:-

    USA PRS Custom 22 (1995)
    USA Fender Strat Plus (1988)
    USA Fender Strat (2007)
    2 x custom made Telecasters
    Palm Bay Tempest (2014)
Ibanez JS24P (that's the Joe Satriani sig model)
    Charvel San Dimas (2019)

I've got about 6 or 7 others that some would class as "budget" guitars, but I've set them all up to play like butter.

I've owned and sold more guitars than I currently own, including a few Gibsons.

If Chris Rea joins Dire Straights, does that make them Chris straights?

Or would they just be crap?

He claimed he’s got ‘fans’ clamouring for him to upload some solo stuff, to quest their thirst for his greatness whilst he can’t gig due to COVID.

He used to play in a pub band in Poole.

I bought a similar e-drum kit to this, about a year ago. Made by a German company called Fame. I’m no expert, but I think it’s brilliant for the money. Must be selling well because the one pictured above is now £200 more expensive and other than the controller, as far as I can see It’s the same.
