The Thread For Musicians

There seem to be a few musicians among us, so I thought it would be great to have a thread just for us.

You could be a hoary old seasoned gigger, like me, a bedroom bassist (like Pix), or someone just starting out.

Perhaps you don’t yet play an instrument and would like to learn? You are welcome, too.

I’ll kick things off with a couple of posts, to get things moving.

So, for the past three years or so, I’ve been gigging with my Line 6 Helix, which replaced my amp rig. I bought it when it came out, and I can vouch for its quality and ruggedness.

Just recently, I bought the HoTone Ampero MP-100, mainly for practice, as it has a much smaller footprint and is more portable. I had heard good things about, but was nonetheless extremely impressed with both its build quality and the usefulness of its tones.

If there is anyone out there looking for a decent multi fx amp modeller, the Ampero offers great bang for buck.

Never played an Instrument before. If I was to choose one I'd probably go saxophone.

By far the worst instrument ever.

 

Yeah love the sound of a Sitar. Especially combined with Tabla (Indian drums with that rubber pad that makes that ‘bouncing’ sound)

 

sound like a small mammal being strangled to death.

 

Its a wretched sound.

Goes right through me.

 

Can you class auto-tune as an instrument?

Chuck that in the bin with bagpipes too
