I know what you are saying with the 17m. Even I still hold out some hope this is all just timing. However if you are to stay sane watching Newcastle under Mike Ashley, I simply think the best policy is nothing good will ever happen and every takeover is fake, or at least destined to fail. Come on we've heard it all now, so a non refundable deposit and whole load of shenanigans is no surprise. Mike has done his usual and said nothing at all, rolling out Charnley and Bruce to give ambiguous statements with little meaning. Bruce and Charnley are bearing the brunt as is the job of a manager and exec at Newcastle. I honestly don't know. The reality there is no one posting info on some NUFC forum who knows jack ****. The reporters know jack ****, hence they just keeping shifting position. All they are bothered about is being first with the news which is the modern way. So they just print daily bullshit. Then you get fans talking about Edwards, Caulkin etc being in the know, they must be. They know **** all, actions speak louder than words, journalism is a lost art, and they keep shifting position hedging their bets. I've been pretty much thinking there is a 10% chance of this happening since the start. It was probably a lot higher in reality but I can't get past the history of takeovers under Ashley. It was like his closing down sales, they didn't actually exist or ever truly happen. But they sure do get advertised a lot. I'm certainly no more persuaded or dissuaded by all the factors you speak of, which may seem strange but given the biggest obstacle of in my eyes is still Mike, you can understand why I'm disinterested in the whole thing.
Seen this all before. Pad work is pad work. You can look lightning over a few seconds but 3 minute rounds quickly zap that spritely persona out of an ageing fighter. I like Mike and the way he has transformed himself though. The weed has clearly had a magnificent effect on the man and helped calm the raging bull. I think its a massive shame he hasn't gone into coaching. Such a complicated fella when younger, he would be an expert at guiding young men from the streets. The little bits of coaching he does do, he looks incredibly knowledgeable particularly with regard to movement and getting in and out of range (as you'd expect). I know a lot of people find it sad to see ageing stars getting in the ring for exhibitions. I hate it when its money driven and its kinda sad. However Mike is doing ok these days with the weed ventures etc. However I expect Roy Jones Jr is in it for cash and its sad what has happened to him. Punch resistance zero now. A lot of boxing fans (certainly younger fans) don't realise just how good Roy was at his peak. He was untouchable for a while and up until that second Tarver fight, which seemed to affect him mentally and he went off the rails a bit, he was stellar. He'd only lost once in about 50 fights.
Suppose he just loves boxing. 1 of the best ever but he's damaged his legacy carrying on for so long. Same as Hopkins
in my eyes they add to their legacy .. Will this crap about having to stay undefeated has ruined the sport. The sooner that stops the better .. it's just a fight. win lose or draw they're hall of famers not hall of fakers
some bloke from the Athletic reporting that people thinking PIF aren't linked to the piracy issue are wrong and that the would be buyers totally underestimated the issue and we're not prepared for it. make what you want of that, but I'm afraid that's yet another fallacy on our side ironed out .
I am assuming the guy writing for Athletic is a legal professional to be making comments like that. There is a degree of legal separation between PIF and the Saudi state.
I don't know just what I read mate.. I would assume he's heard that from sources on one or even both sides? Some bloke called matt slater if I remember correctly
just saying hence I said make of it what you want and put with the other increasingly negative signs over the past 4 months. fingers crossed but these are people who've been positive it'll go through now shifting to the it's doubtful stance
No you said “ I'm afraid that's yet another fallacy on our side ironed out” And that’s what my comment alluded to.
Say what you like I ain’t Donald Trump and I ain’t Vladimir Putin. You’re perfectly entitled to say whatever you think.
I wrote it wrong mate.. I meant could mean it's ironed out. Back 1st thing to hopefully read something that points to it happening
The PL desperately need fans to buy their subscriptions after the Chinese have pulled out... Qatar has a population of 2.8m Saudi over 33m Egypt 98m Two of those countries are about to or have blocked BEIN transmissions. the other is Qatar. for all their bark commercially they are a little Jack Russell. It’s the Great Danes and greyhounds the PL would rather listen to. Consumers.. and money talks.
