Thanks DMD. I think it's an important subject and people need to decide whether they want to voice their opinions to the council. It may be a committee decision but Geraghty seems to be the most vocal and the most negative.
This is the chance for supporters to choose action rather than apathy so come on folks - you can't complain too much if your not willing to try and influence things.

It's certainly a subject worthy of full and open discussion.

I've sent him my thoughts, I'm no creative genius when it comes to writing but it's another opinion for them to think about.

Now that the Allams have been denied purchasing the KC and surrounding land will they keep their promise to build a new stadium and sports village at Melton or was this just rhetoric on their part.

I don't think it would be a waste of time. That clown will influence whether you have to travel to Melton every home game.

I think you'd be better off writing a letter. Yes, in biro on paper, as backwards as it may seem, it'd more likely get read than an email I imagine.

To be honest, as i've heard it the Allams didn't have a satisfactory business plan to make the council want to give up a £30m asset for nothing, the Allams allegedly didn't realise we already have an ice arena so scrapped that, and scrapped an olympic size pool on account of the running costs. Building either of these will cost the council who will lose money on their existing pools and ice rink. The Allams are business men first and foremost, this is not a gift for Hull its a business venture, we cant ignore that fact. The stadium will act as collateral towards a loan to build the sports village. I've read elsewhere that he was offered the site at costello stadium but rejected it. Think we should be cautious before making our mind up, the council is there to get the best deal for the people of Hull, all we've heard is rumours, which could come back to bite us in the ass. We whom see how it goes, at the minute all i've heard is speculation, no hard facts laid out by either party. Hopefully the details of the negotiations will be made public in due course.

can somebody just clear it up for me , im a bit daft when it comes to financial stuff, it goes over my head a bit...i understand the 90m investment from the allams etc, and how great it would be, but why should the council give him the stadium for free? what do they get out of it exactly? dont shoot me down, im sure your all right, i just want to understand what im mad about <laugh>

what are the councils real concerns over stadium use ?
All they need to do is to agree certain clauses that would guarantee football and rugby to be played at the ground over a certain period (something that already exists anyway)
Its not as if there is much else the Allams can do with the stadium is it ?
So whats their fears ? the council have wanted to move the fairground before , its in an awful position in Hull , Its ok for me as its near enough to walk to ,but far enough away to not be a problem.
There is land all over hull that could be made available , infact make a clause that Allams must invest in a new place for the fair . There must be land near Clive sully at least .

People are saying they want the stadium for free but haven't they said they want to buy the stadium and land? either way though they are offering to build a sports village and the stadium earns the council near enough **** all any extra events such as music acts will go to the SMC (I assume) so I don't see benefits to the council keeping it

I just like the way people seem to think the stadium is safe in the council's hands - and that because the Allams are private enterprise they're bound to be a bit shifty.

This council won't be in forever, this council may not want to sell... the next council(s) of whatever colour may sell the stadium to whoever they choose in the next 42 years - so refusing to sell to the Allams is only that - refusing to sell to them. It's putting NO guarantees for the future. The next potential buyers may not have the references that investing £40m into the club brings.

Why might a future council sell? The stadium makes next to nothing, and will soon start to cost. Take a look at how the seats are beginning to fade, the rust and the graffiti on the bridge over the railway lines. Boothferry Park only became the place it was in 2002 because it wasn't invested in - that could happen to the stadium too without investment to keep it up to date.

ive just read Mr Allams response with regards to the councils refusal to sell the KC .

Mr Allam said there would be no further talks as far as he is concerned - a little bit odd and worrying IMO .
I dont like the way he goes about things , its a bit iffy . That said i would trust him more with the club and stadium far mor than any council we vote in .

Good letter Mavroz, but as far as I can see that only makes 4 (possibly 5 - OLM didn't confirm whether he wrote) who have written so far (apologies to anyone who has written but not mentioned it).
That's not good enough considering the strong opinions many have posted on here. It doesn't have to be a long letter, just a comment the same length as you put on this forum will be registered.
And to anyone who think it's party political l'm happy to admit that I'm a lifelong Labour voter, but this goes beyond politics.
Come on people - the council are proving they are all talk and no action lets not have the same said about us.
