A lot less than there used to be. Investigative journalism is a dying trade these days, easier just to pick up stuff up of social media.
It doesn't help him though, without a complete understanding of how these things work, it's not possible for him to challenge him on the financials during a live interview, he simply won't know when Ehab's bullshitting. He's much better at challenging him on the football side of things, as he's done very well with McCann this week, though that's just resulted in McCann going into hiding.
I have a client who are the solicitors for a L1 club. They had to employ an outside specialist in football (an ex player who is a lawyer) to get to grips with the football contracts. I attended a seminar on football insolvency with them and a leading insolvency firm. The first section was long and complex and all about ownership. The second was about accounts. The speaker said one thing, time and time again. Professional sports clubs within a group holding are nightmare and not for the faint hearted. We went through the administration of Aldershot and it was scary.
There wasn't any haste to buy the club. At the time the Allams became involved with City when we were promoted to the PL, purely as a perk or entertainment for their clients at Allam Marine. Probably had a box or where situated within earshot of Russel Bartlett because they were soon asked if they would like to invest in the club ( lend them some money) which they did. Then Barlett came back for more and from there the difference between the loans and actually buying the club was getting closer, so I presume an offer was made and finally accepted.
How disrespectful of us to have a thread about the bigger plan. As Grant said, that will remain in house. It's none of our business to know what the owners and manager plan to do with our football club.
He claimed some months after buying the club that he had unearthed a lot of hidden debt ! Wasnt it £30/40 million
I don't believe there is a plan. If there was they should be publishing some detail so they might get support from supporters, press, etc. If there is a plan, and it's secret, they shouldn't have said anything in the first place. I think they make it up as they go along. And we all know how that can go...
He claimed the debt was £30m, which was much higher than he'd expected, though he must have expected it to be fairly high, or we obviously wouldn't have been in major financial difficulty.
He did, obviously, but he just took that debt on, he didn't negotiate with Bartlett, it was what it was.
Not, pooh poohing that, but it is the first time I have heard they attended the KC before becoming owners. As I know no differently, I will accept it.
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/hull-city-relegation-allam-mccann-4355389 They talk of crowds falling below 10k next season. I honestly think we'll get less than 5k, unless there is significant change in the running of the club.
Not sure what you mean by that? Are you implying that he 'just' bought a football Club for a quid and didn't realise there was significant debt attached?Or are you saying he knew there was debt but didn't care how much it was?
If I remember rightly ( not 100% sure ) they knew there was X amounts of debt but later claimed they'd uncovered a further £30 million
