Bristol City next manager odds: Chris Hughton favourite again, Steven Gerrard odds lengthened The bookies odds have continued to fluctuate as the scene surrounding who will be Bristol City's next manager continues to stay cloudy https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-next-manager-odds-4348521
For me as Angus just tweeted-two completely different propositions. Angus Scott @AngusScott · 32m Two routes for the @BristolCity board: One brings a big name, huge commercial value and earning potential, but not necessarily success. The other brings solid dependency, a proven track record, but is less glamorous. It’s a huge and difficult choice #trusttheboard#seebothsides
But if it worked with Gerrard's brand, then it would likely to benefit us long term as we should be commercially viable for the Premier...... Where as with Houghton, may well be a one season wonder, with less expectation of staying there!!
mmm If I remember rightly, Coppell wasn't mentally in the right place....I remember Reading fans, he wasn't the same in his last season.......so not quite the same.
You having a wobble-Gerrard would be off like a rat up a drain pipe if the prem came calling-Hughton says he wants the job-turned down 5 previous including Watford and has still not taken another job,
Coppell didn't do that though did he? He left after a month when he couldn't hack it anymore. Gerrard would not do this because he's just starting out and as you said he wants to manage higher so quitting after a month wouldn't look good. Hughton on the other hand as been out of a job for over a year is getting on in years and might think it might not all be worth it if he gets back into job. So yes imo if anybody was going to 'pull a Coppell' it would be Hughton. And I said had more chance of being Coppell mk 2 not will be Coppell mk 2!!!
To be honest, if what ever manager turned us into a success, then bigger clubs will be always knocking on doors (including Houghton, although he's already been in the shop window, numerous times)...that's the nature of the beast
Mark Ashton's programme notes The CEO has spoken about the managerial vacancy in today's programme. He said: Looking back at the season, we know we have fallen short of our target of reaching the top six and that is something which hurts everyone connected with the club. The search for a new appointment continues and as I have said previously, you will be the first to know of our decision when we have completed our rigorous interview process.
I'm just glad that it's not been a snap decision and that they seem to be giving it some proper thought and due diligence for a change.
When we employ our next manager do we have the capability to hit the ground running, or will we hear of another 5 year plan?
Make my day punk https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/exclusive-bristol-city-set-sights-4354815 Gregor MacGregor @GeeMacGee We understand that #BristolCity are now stepping up their interest in Chris Hughton. The club is due to meet him in the next days and - although there are other candidates still - he is emerging as the new leading contender. So Gerrard has said no thanks and we're settling on talking to Hughton. I just hope there is a Plan C if he's not interested.
