Lol @ out of sight at halftime,i also wonder which game people have been watching, especially you with that summary.Honestly i'm not bitter this morning or even after the final whistle so i'm not just being a typical fan when i say this but i thought in every aspect other than the workrate i thought we were the better team, that's the beauty of the game though, everyone has a different opinion. Also i don't think you'll find any Saints fans that EXPECTS to stay top,we're just enjoying the ride after some very down moments over the past few years, can't blame us for showing a bit of enthusiasm.
Thanks for another sensible post, time for a reality check, NA himself said that their were 16 teams that would be in contention and we cannot expect an easy ride, the honeymoon period is over for us now, as the other teams fathom out our methods, same goes for Brighton, how often have newly promoted teams flattered to deceive at the start of a season, experienced sides like Cardiff often have a slow start for various reasons and gradually come back into contention, we will have to change and adapt if we are to remain in the top bunch, we have good players but not enough of them, if we got a run of injuries like you we would really struggle.
Please go away and for once try and do something to lift your poor disappointed mother's hopes for you.
I didn't say that anyone EXPECTS (why the shout?) you to stay there. I'm not sure that I do, that's all. As for your LOL. . . Wittingham's free kick that was heading straight for the top corner but for one of our players getting in the way, long throws that you couldn't handle. . . most of the action was in front of the family stand. Granted, that was the case for the second half as well, but there we are. . . we won, you lost. Doesn't matter about the ones that didn't go in - well, for us it doesn't.
It wasn't a shout,i was just emphasising the word, dunno how to do the underline thingy.A freekick that was blocked and a few long throws is what you're basing your theory that you should of been outta sight at halftime on? Oh dear.If that makes you outta sight at halftime then we should of had a rugby score in the second half,we didn't and you won, welldone but i'm not gonna get down cos we were beaten, that's life,we draw a blue line under it and move on.
Cheers, agree. Thing is, I'm still looking at my program to see who's who in the Cardiff line up so the 'experienced' tag is more appropriate for our fans thna the players! It's evident that Malky has something in him that inspires plyers to give their all. It may be that they just don't waznt ot be shouted at at the end of a game, I reckon he'd be terrifying.
Okay. All I'm saying is that we had our chances, that it was a 'game of two halves' and that we really could have been up and away by half time. There's nothing wrong with mentioning missed chance, as you say you had your fair share (in the second half). There's no two ways about it, Saints are a good team but Cardiff were full of players who were confident on the ball last season . . . and what happened? I'm not saying that we ripped you to shreds but the result was fair, end of.
The experienced tag was more to do with a Club that has been around the block in the top Leagues so know what is what, we have experienced life in Division One for a short time and are back on the Championship learning curve, it is a whole new ball game.
Anyway we lost that one and I am a bit depressed about it but now bring on the Watford game thread and we can start again on a positive note.
The stats suggest that the match was very even and both sides had good chances to score more goals. The facts are that Cardiff defended better for the 90 minutes and made less defensive errors and that is why they won the game.
i've got to say i was impressed by some of the southampton passing play, good to see in this division so well done to adkins as for the game i thought we started slowly (cardiff) and i dont really remember us having a shot on goal til about 20 or 30 mins. from then on though i thought we were the better team, yes the first miller goal was poor defending but thats the sort of thing which decides close games, keeping your concentration for the full 90. from where i was it looked like the header from the southampton player couldnt miss, and from that perspective southampton should, and could have scored more than 1 on another day, but they didnt and thats football. to those who crow about beating us back at st mary's well look at our bench today, not one player who could change the game in our favour so the sooner our injured players return the better because we were weakened quite badly yesterday. and also, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.
If remarks about race had been made "in jest" to a citizen of the UK who was Black or Asian....people would have been up in arms, so why is it OK to do it to the Welsh? Touchy, maybe, but when you get this garbage week in week out from a certain type of fan of EVERY club we play against, well the joke wears a bit thin after 30 or 40 years, especially when the "geniuses" who come up with this stuff think they are the first to have thought of it I don't mind banter, but when you hear the same crap week in week out, it becomes tedious, boring and very unfunny.
I agree blue prophet the anti welsh songs are only sung by the inbreds at footy. Its the lack of imagniation that grates me more the race vibe tbh.
Jeez some of this is just embarrassing. Here's a different take on it from my perspective. Congratulations to Cardiff - they had a depleted team and worked incredibly hard to gain all 3 points from a good team that's high on confidence right now. Best of luck for the rest of the season. Now let's focus on the game against Watford coming up and channel our energies into getting 3 points from that match, and keeping ourselves at the top of the pile for at least a little longer. Not much more than that needs to be said..............
Sadly BP it is a sign of the times.......Every team has there share of idiots and Cardiff are no exception. The tales about the sheep have been going since well before the second world war......and maybe even before that, at least, so older members of my family have told me. It is a sad reflection of the need to start name calling simply because a game of football was won or lost!! To be honest it is rather childish............
I have to say that Southampton fans are on the whole a decent bunch,,,,,,,,,and far from the worst, Cardiff have more than their share of half heads, who sing Anti English songs, but in "defence" of these idiots ( I can't believe I just said that ) very rarely do the Cardiff numptys start the racist stuff, the anti English stuff is normally in response to anti Welsh stuff.................They may threaten to kick your f.....g head in, but its not racially motivated, fair play they'll punch ANYONE Good luck for the rest of the season, apart from the reverse fixture of course, or any cup/playoff games our clubs might be involved in
I don't think I mentioned anything racist in any of my posts, I don't condone it at all, you are right about getting the same old garbage every week, we get that from the Blue Few down the M27 all of the time, and on other Forums from Brighton fans surprisingly, something we all have to live with I am afraid, just keep an open mind and treat it with the contempt it deserves, but don't stop the light hearted banter, without the personal insults, that's what makes this Forum tick.
