IF Villa lose and Bournemouth win, Bournemouth will be above them on GD, no matter what the scores are
I said that Villa shouldn't be discounted, they have a great chance now and the form and momentum too, unbeaten in 3 now.
So Watford have to either better Villa's result, or equal Villa's result but by two goals better (something which is clearly impossible if they both draw). If Watford equal Villa's result by virtue of them both losing, Bmouth will overtake them both by winning (regardless of scorelines). Otherwise, Bmouth are down.
Can’t see Bournemouth getting anything at Everton, Watford won’t get anything at Arsenal .....looks like Villa will escape.
It's not going to be drama free on Sunday, that I'm sure off. The big result for Bournemouth today was that Watford got hammered. Villa winning is not ideal, but they had to beat Everton either way. They've just got to rely on West Ham as well as Arsenal.
One thing Villa have just done is given themselves a whole lot to think about, and a whole lot of nerves to deal with on Sunday. For Bournemouth it's 'easy' mentally, it's all out for the win. But Villa have something to lose now.....
Dream scenario: Man Utd 7 - 0 West Ham West Ham 0 - 4 Aston Villa Watford 4 - 0 Arsenal It's the hope that kills.....
Even if West Ham lose 4-0 this week to Man United, Villa would have to beat them 5-0 to go above them and Watford would have to win their game by 5 or 6 to go above them. West Ham aren’t technically safe but they’re pretty much sorted.
They will be able to re-invest and probably have better long term prospects than Watford and Bournemouth the longer they stay in the PL.
