Sounds like Inside Arabia has published an article on the takeover and Newcastle - unfortunately the original has now been changed due to a barrage of protests from Geordies. The Chronicle article about it is funny though, as are the comments afterwards (my favourite being this one) https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/nufc-takeover-article-sparks-fury-18630500
great news another buyer and not Henry mauriss is interested , so even if this takeover saga ends I'll be able to jump into the next ... I wonder how many billions this one's got. happy days
wasn't amusing at all.. a disgusting article mate.. I hope he ends up dressed up like a horse in benwell
Interesting. Everywhere i can see is now reporting Wolves instead of Newcastle? Could it be that it wasn't as well known and now is or just that one reporter has decided on this amended 8 teams and 30 reporters are just repeating is as if it's fact? It doesn't really matter of course, Man City were breaching the spirit of FFP and were almost certainly correct to be reported but it turns out not to be enforceable anyway. I don't think that Pep gets to complain about this but everyone just needs to move on as it's clearly not "a thing". I'd say NUFC would at least not be hypocritical to report as we clearly work within FFP but I'd be surprised if we did. Man City inflate prices and we're a selling club, they also lower the expectations of other fans (we get beat 5-0 and just shrug, we accept we can't compete for the top 6, etc) both of which plays into Ashleys hands. I don't see why he'd want to rock the boat.
The original piece and the ‘Hateful Eight’ tag was written my Martin Samuel mate, and he gave the list as I posted. The fat knacker could have been wrong like, would hardly be the first time.
You need to stop taking things too seriously. I haven't seen the original article as its now been modified but it has clearly not been put out as a serious piece of journalism and its best to view at such.
Fair play. It would be kind of funny if it was us and then we get taken over by people looking to do the same (though i doubt that's on the cards), I was just confused where we'd been dragged into it. Looking at his article, although he calls it the "hateful 8" he goes on to list the 8 clubs I've got down and then Newcastle: It seems there's two separate but linked events, one of which we are alleged to be entwined with (writing to CAS) and one in which we are not (some EPL wranglings which is now hitting the news). Oh well, personally don't have an issue with City spending and would find it hilarious if they bought £500m worth of player this summer and blew the league out of the water next year. I think half of Liverpool would actually implode.
Reading the article by Martin Samuel and this bit stood out: "Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, AC Milan — there won't be room for too many others after that lot grab their share. Paris Saint-Germain might get a pass but only because Qatar, through beIN Sports, own the game. Newcastle, Wolves, Tottenham, Everton, Leicester, Leeds, Sunderland, Aston Villa — there is no room for them at this table. And the fact one or more might even hope or begin to emulate City is what terrifies the cabal." Not sure if he's taking the p!ss. I like Sunderland and am openly clear that I want them back in the Premiership but to quote them in things like this at the moment seems odd at best.
The individual agendas of those clubs who chose to cry to CAS differ completely. You’ve got the established CL cash enriched clubs merely wanting to keep the status quo. Then you’ve got the likes of Burnley who want the opportunity to compete in the PL without sugar daddy level spending skewing the playing field. I have zero sympathy for the former but a degree of support for the latter.
Is that the best thing he could imagine? I mean if you're going to imagine why not imagine Ronaldo Cavani and Messi get out?
The Saudi takeover of Newcastle United has stalled indefinitely – dashing Steve Bruce's plea for “clarity.” Newcastle are planning for next season under Mike Ashley and Bruce, with the proposed £300m deal unlikely to be waved through. The Premier League are believed to be standing alongside its major £500m overseas rights holder beIN Sports. They were last week slapped with a permanent ban by a Saudi court from broadcasting in the country – hugely inflaming the situation. The ban was passed in direct contradiction to Premier League chief exec Richard Masters saying in June that the Saudis had to “respond positively to the situation and allow sports rights holders to protect their rights”. —————————————————— ‘But wor lass had bought Mbappe bedsheets’
