I saw on Sky Sports News that Huddersfield are not seeking applications. (for a replacement for Cowley). This suggests they have someone lined up.

    Edit
    (from the BBC)
Huddersfield Town have approached Leeds United's assistant boss Carlos Corberan to be their next head coach.

Corberan combined a role with Marcelo Bielsa’s coaching team during Leeds’ charge back to the Premier League this season with his role as the club’s Under-23 manager.

The 37-year-old previously worked with Manuel Pellegrini and former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde at Valencia. He also worked in Saudi Arabia and Cyprus before moving to Leeds in 2017. A year later he became part of Bielsa’s coaching team following the Argentine’s arrival at Elland Road.

Although Bielsa’s contract is about to run out, with Leeds planning immediate talks about an extension, it is understood Corberan’s is a long deal and would involve compensation.

If Huddersfield did decide to appoint Corberan, they would be following the path they went down with David Wagner, who was part of Jurgen Klopp’s wider coaching team at Borussia Dortmund.

Huddersfield want to return to the collaborative set-up they had with Wagner and his successor Jan Siewert, whose titles were head coach, rather than the management model favoured by Danny Cowley, who was surprisingly sacked by the Terriers on Sunday despite keeping the club in the Championship.

DANNY COWLEY was sacked just two days after he rescued Huddersfield from relegation after rows over recruitment.

SunSport understands owner Phil Hodgkinson wants total control over transfers — but his manager was not willing to work that way.

Cowley, and his brother and assistant Nicky, were fired after Terriers avoided the drop to League One by beating West Brom.

Hodgkinson is talking to Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson and Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant Carlos Corberan.

Insiders claim the Terriers’ owner decided he was going to dismiss the brothers during the coronavirus lockdown.

A club source said: “Danny and Nicky had an inkling and could have just walked out.

“But they wanted to see it through because so many jobs were at stake if they went down.”

The Cowleys took over from Jan Siewert in September after the club had one win in seven months.

Despite only having one point from the first nine games, they kept the club up.

No Championship team has ever survived from that position.

When you consider the last sentence. That’s quite an achievement. A ridiculous sacking by Huddersfield.

and one heading for the courts to be resolved unless of course young Danny had management of all transfers written into his contract? If not, he needs new lawyers!

It's strange how you see things differently depending on the situation the club is in.

McCann and his dreadful tactics are that unbearable I'd now happily accept a manager who previously I wouldn't even consider wanting here - just something new would be nice. Even with Bowen and Grosicki, the football was never that enjoyable under McCann.

    Nigel Clough
    Steve McClaren
    Roy Keane
    Mick McCarthy

I can't see us getting anyone of the calibre of Nigel Pearson back, or the Cowley's (rumoured to be in the running for the Bristol City job) and definitely no chance of someone like Hughton. The very best we could hope for is a Martin O'Neill, but the biggest stumbling block is the Allam's.

I'd take clough or big mick tomorrow. Steve couldn't be worse than what we have. Don't see Keane as the answer though.

I'd take McCarthy in a heartbeat.

    Keane can **** off though.

The other two... in League One, yeah.

Mad Mick's managerial stats are pretty good, Clough OK, McClaren knows the club and what it needs and I agree about Keane, he did OK at Sunderland - I just think we need a change, even if it is Keane. We need fresh ideas on the field and I can only see a continuation of the depressive slump if McCann stays in his role.

I'm not saying that's who I want in as manager - more a case of if we had the choice of McCann or Keane, right now I'd pick Keane. He can't do any worse!

Not sure he's the right personality for a young squad low on confidence.

I'd have him just for the entertainment value he'd have in his inevitably short reign. Allam's unmoveable rock vs Keane's irresistable force. Bound to go wrong spectacularly.

Can anyone really see, Keane or Mick working with Enob? They would fall out immediately and give him a good slap.

What Cloughie junior achieved at Burton was outstanding considering what he had to spend...
