Due to the irrational actions of deciding to null and void SOME of the ladies leagues as well as some relegation and promotion between leagues they have decimated Sunderland Ladies team that were runaway leaders of their league when they decided to cancel everything . Their decision has meant we have now lost more than half of our team , understandable in some ways as the girls would have wanted to play at a higher level and will have been bitterly disappointed. Manchester United who are a relatively new side to ladies football I would humbly suggest would not have been treated as poorly as we have , or am I missing something in the logic of the FA and their decision making , Anyone else feel as aggrieved as I do .
I've said this many times on this board WHEN have the FA done anything which ends up being beneficial to our club. I'll give you the answer NEVER.
I mean they paid us £130million plus of prize money a season which was catastrophically mismanaged but let’s not let that ruin a yarn
But they did give us that, and we absolutely squandered it. It’s like any kind of ‘prize’, it’s not a given. Ill take any shots at the EFL but the FA absolutely know how to run a league, a competition, and a business. Just cos we ****ed it, and the ladies game is lacking interest and finance, doesn’t change that mate.
They've had a history of continually fecking over the women's side though, particularly in 2010. When you look at the number of the England team that started out at Sunderland, it's disgraceful the way we've been treated.
I can understand Mollie Lambert and Charlotte Potts wanting to move on. Both were far too good for that level of football. Would welcome both back if we were to get promoted. Can't understand why the other 3 would drop down a division to join the Skunks though. Katie Barker and Georgia Gibson could have been regular starters next season. Probably shows the lack of investment at Sunderland. We've got an excellent manager and we should be backing her. As for the FA, don' t get me started..... ****ers!
The y certainly have it in for us, but I believe the reason they wanted us out of the top league is that out women just don't get the numbers of supporters that the top teams get.
We downgraded the full squad to part time contracts in 2017. It was a real shame as we had such a big impact on women’s domestic football as well as our national team. I vaguely remember a few of us on here discussing it after the Women’s World Cup, last year. The feeling at the time was if we had kept our ladies full time we could have really capitalised on the attention that has been brought to women’s football on the back of that tournament. It just wasn’t to be, though...
Not the FA premier league any more. It’s a different entity now wholly owned by its 20 member clubs and governed by the rules invoked by the premier league, fa, UEFA etc. definitely no longer the FA premier league https://www.premierleague.com/about
It’s always been owned by the 20 clubs in it paying for their ‘share’ mate, that was the original idea and why the clubs voted for the breakaway, as it gave them more power and control. The actual name for the league is ‘The Football Association Premier League Limited’ and always has been, the ‘Premier League’ and snazzy logos are a worldwide marketing tool by there sensational marketing guys. You can’t actually enter UEFA with a league that isn’t registered and listed behind an association in your country of origin. It remains fully operated by the FA, and always will (as they are ****ing brilliant at it...)
Sorry mate but it isn't. The Premier League is a private company wholly owned by its 20 Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time. Each individual club is independent, working within the rules of football, as defined by the Premier League, The FA, UEFA and FIFA, as well as being subject to English and European law. The FA are listed as one of the Premier League's footballing partners on their site too: The Football Association The Football Association (The FA) is the national governing body for football in England and is responsible for sanctioning competition Rule Books, including the Premier League’s, and regulating on-field matters. The FA is also a special shareholder of the Premier League. It has the ability to exercise a vote on certain specific issues, but has no role in the day-to-day running of the Premier League. It also organises The FA Cup competition, in which our 20 Member Clubs compete. https://www.premierleague.com/about/football-partners The rules are sanctioned by the FA but the 2 are completely different entities
They really aren’t mate. The FA are responsible for marketing (my job..), rules, managing shares, refereeing, intellectual property, TV deals, formation of fixture list.... ‘Premier League’ is a brand created by the FA to sell our league to foreign markets. In the same was ‘Bundesliga’ is the brand for ‘DFB Fussball Bundesliga’ It is indeed ran as a separate business. But it’s ran as that separate business by the FA who effectively run and maintain it in the background. There are 21 votes in the Premier League, the odd 1 being for the FA. For all they say ‘it’s owned by the clubs’ the entire team works out of the FA headquarters. There’s a clue in the companies house information.
Sorry to argue mate but I'm only going on the information I found on the Premier League's site which literally states that "The FA is also a special shareholder of the Premier League. It has the ability to exercise a vote on certain specific issues, but has no role in the day-to-day running of the Premier League." How can they have nothing to do with the day to day running if they are that deeply involved? I am totally confused and can't find any evidence to the contrary. It hasn;t been called the FA premier league for ages (much like it hasn;t been the Premiership for years - although an awful lot of people still call it that!) I'm not trying to wind you up or anything mate, just I can't find a single piece of evidence to support your side of the argument. It was originally the FA premier league. On the FA website the Premier League isn't listed as one of their competitions either: http://www.thefa.com/competitions Edit: Sorry just found the Companies House registered company name of the Football Association Premier League. I just can't find anything on the FA site to the contrary or the Premier League site which explicitly states that they are not involved in the day to day running and has them as 2 completely different organisations. Unless it's something that they don't publicise of course and you know more about it than I do - in which case I'll bow to your superior knowledge
