    Facebook or Google

We all know that both have a less than stellar reputation when it comes to privacy but I am curious as to who you all think is a greater threat to people's online privacy.

It is why you shouldn't threaten to physically harm someone on the internet, or be racist and sectarian if your job dictates you should be impartial. even if you delete your account, even if you ****e yourself and take a sabbatical for a couple of weeks and come back with a new username, your posting can still be easily found.

A scary thought for some people I imagine.

So very true. Once you post something on the Internet it is out there forever. I imagine there are a lot of people on here panicking that their activity will be seen by the wrong person.

If you are dumb enough to use your real name on here you deserve to be screwed over............... I would suggest that you don t put any silly pictures of yourself on facebook and limit your workmates on there.......... If you get tagged you can freeze your account but i don t have any workmates on mine any more since i signed an accountability agreement ..

There are a lot of weirdos and trolls on there like all social networks I suppose but the best way to protect yourself is to avoid posting anything too personal and stick to generic things that are well known about yourself.

On a separate note I believe that sites like Facebook and text messaging are killing human interaction. There are people who will not communicate through any other medium. When I meet new women I always ask 'Can I give you a call sometime?' and I always get told to text instead. Why do people prefer to communicate this way when a simple telephone call is still the best method of communication aside from face to face.

    Bring back proper human interaction!!!

i agree with that! People get so used to not having to think...it's far easier to write a text and take time to say the right thing that to speak and maybe say something you don't intend to say, but that comes with practice! Nobody gets practice speaking anymore!

It's all text messaging, email and instant messaging nowadays and those tools are fine and have their place but I do despair for future generations because they are so over used that text language is even creeping into normal every day language.

i know, you're right. It's sad to see, but i suppose it's all part of human development. English now is different Shakespeare's English, which was different to Chaucer's English...and so it goes on. Language evolves, technology is helping it on it's way.

The ironic thing is Jonny Banana is bored at work, i m in deepest darkest Suffolk and my family are sleeping and Hornette is Modding..... Without instant msg i would be zoning out at tv......................... Its better to keep it simple on FB if you do things that you don t want to be made public........ I knew someone who got fired for posting about smoking a joint and slating his company.... Bosses check if you re off sick sometimes for your activity

I usually argue with Americans who comment on TV show or movie pages. I don't think they like it to much because I once referred to the American public as stupid because the show Flash Forward was too complicated for them and that was why it was cancelled.
