    Nicely summed up Roger.

The result last night was through grit and determination. There was not a great deal of technical ability in the performance. That is by no means a negative comment. You don't have to be technical to be competitive.

Gilmartin looked assured, and comfortable on the ball. He was also keen on the quick throw/pass, which is a benefit. I think the change can only be good, as it now means there is real competition in an otherwise constant position.

I have to say, Forsyth does look good. He has a great touch and seems to have a good eye for spotting the right pass. It has to be said though, he is very slow. I don't think this is affecting his performances though.

One thing that must change in the coming games; reduce the number of offsides!!!!!!!!

After last nights performance, it isn't looking good for Millwall. It will be a shame to struggle this year, particularly because of their display last season. They were just so rigid, particularly the defence, who seemed to have the combined technical ability of a pebble. Good luck to them though.

I guess I'll have to not go more often. Was stuck in London so gave it a miss. It is critical we get these sort of results against teams down the bottom. I doubt we'll get much change from the teams chasing promotion although I know this division is the one where any result is possible. Good to hear the team looked sharper and that Forsyth played well. I was critical of him on Saturday (deservedly so) and perhaps shouldn't have singled him out above several others who also had poor games.

It's a shame it's going to be a bit of a slog this season but we need to get behind the team wherever possible, they will need us. I just hope this style of play is one which will evolve. I'm sorry but I really do not want to go back to hoofball. If it helps keep us up I guess it will have served its purpose but if this is how it's going to be going forward then the crowds will stay away, other teams will suss us out and we will not bring through the potential quality from our youngsters. "Yes, you are great on the ball, can you lump is up onto Forsyth's head".

comfortable by 1.2 points if 54 is the benchmark again :)

I think most points have already been raised from the game last night. A few people think we played well. Maybe even the majority.

I remember that SD stated before the season his intention to play this type of game which is a long way from the attacking/passing style of last season. I am not a fan of this type of football, it bores me. Personaly, if we continue playing this way we will struggle - maybe I will be proved wrong. It has always been said that if you build a solid defence then the team can build from there and there must be some fans that are looking up saying that we are still only 4 points off 6th place but it's hard to see the overall quality in the side to reach those heights.

I have always believed that the best method of defence is attack and last year was a breath of fresh air compared to previous seasons but whilst I'm enjoying seeing the defence (bar Tiny who seems to be a little under par so far this season) play mainly a solid mature game this season, I'm not enjoying the overall experience - afterall, what is dominance? We just seem to be not prepared to take risks in breaking down teams and I've said it before that if we continue in this way (tacticly) there will be other games we will lose in a similar fashion to Saturday and again last night until Dickinson struck. If I was asked for one word to describe what I'm mostly seeing, it is turgid. Teams will (and already have) set up to counteract our style and I haven't seen a 2nd option yet where the game plan is changed.

Roll on the miracle of a 0-1 scoreline this weekend! :)

By that arithmetic, in 24 years the benchmark will be 100 points. :)

i have to say Chris, we all see things differently, and i'm not sure turgid is a word i'd use. Scrappy maybe. But it's fast, and turgid to me seems like treacle through a sieve. It's scrappy, it's not clear yet what the plan is exactly. Yes, there's more of a hoof this season, and it's odd, considering who we are using as our front two players..who are not exactly tall...but i think, (i think!) that they are trying to play a passing game too, it's just not working yet. Maybe we're expecting too much of a team that to a certain extent has been flung together, and are still getting used to each other. I'm hoping in a few weeks time, things will have settled, and if we can get a few more points before Christmas, then hopefully after Christmas we'll start racking them up!

We're three points above the line that we dare not drift below under any circumstances, three points below the line we aspire to be consistently above, and six points away from dreamland.

And I think the odds are reflective. We're probably about twice as likely to go down this season than get into the playoffs, but three times more likely to survive than go down.
