Returned from Pembrokeshire yesterday after a week and this morning picked 8 cucumbers off my plants in the GH and there are half as many almost ready. Also and overgrown courgette (think marrow) that was the size of my thumb a week ago plus a normal courgette. Finally a helping of sugar snap peas. Finally some runner beans have set and I see some tomatoes forming. The tatty barrels also need decanting.

Any suggestions on how to deal with a cucumber glut apart from giving them away to neighbours.

Morning all. Sunny and temperature around the 30°C mark again. Busy day ahead with the washing machine man coming this afternoon with a new motor. I found myself being used as a prop for the machine while he delved inside it last time. He telephoned at 9.00 pm last night to confirm when he would be here, suggesting he has some long days. With it being hot I am into daily watering of the peas and beans that are all in flower. Just need to have my friendly insects to return and get busy within them. Have a good day whatever you are at. <ok>

    Morning all,

Recovering from an operation that went well here. So, going to be house bound for the next week or so. Pottering about and not over doing anything. Not sure the end of the season is good for my stress levels, but, at least I can fully follow it.

    Hope y'all well.

I used to make wine in my 20's and when I got a job overseas I put it all in the loft to mature. Unfortunately one of the people who rented my house was an alcoholic. <doh>:emoticon-0121-angry. So much for vetting by estate agents.

Morning all. Another warm day is in prospect, but the latest guesswork from the Météo suggests that there could be light rain on Sunday. Mme is now happy that her washing machine has been restored to full health. The young man who changed the motor said that he was lucky that he still had more than enough work while others are sat at home because their companies are still unable to function. It was good to see that he was aware of others who are finding life difficult in Poitiers where he lives, which is a very large town with lots of appartement blocks. I think I will have to spray my runner bean flowers that are making a good show as I haven't noticed many insects around them. It says in the guides that spraying with water may help them to set. Have a good day whatever you are going to do. <ok>

Morning all. Another hot day forecast and with the clear blue sky it is easy to see that they could be right. At one time before the coronavirus struck a blue sky here would have been criss-crossed with vapour trails from the high level aircraft. That is no longer the case as I see very few planes now, showing just why the industry is in such a mess. I was woken up early by the council workmen in the village strimming all of the verges so made a trip to the bread dispenser before others had the chance to empty it. The bread is good, so it is well used and the baker who fills it must be pleased with his takings. Have a good day whatever you plan to do. <ok>

Morning all. Already warm and no breeze to cool it at all. The possible rain showers that could arrive Sunday have now disappeared from the forecast. All of the plums that we picked have been prepared and put it tubs that have gone in the freezer. We have three freezers, one large, one medium and one small. The medium one sits outside in my workshop and tends to get forgotten. Putting the plums in brought to the surface a number of goodies, so shopping is not required today. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>
