Archie Mair loaned to King's Lynn for the season. It came up on here not long enough whether the club might forge stronger links with King's Lynn for the coming season, so I wonder if we'll see any more make a similar move.

Placheta for £1.5m seems good business in the bargain basement. Hopefully he will be a star for us as Buendia has been. If we sell on Buendia for £15m or more then more good business. Seems that business is the name of the game and I thought it was football.

Transfer news from NCFC expected in the next ten minutes...

Edit: Sorensen announced officially, undisclosed fee, 3 year deal. 36 shirt in the press release.

Farke: ‘There was a lot of interest and many clubs were after him. I think we’ve got a really good talent.’

JS: ‘I’m mostly a number six defensive midfielder, but can also play as a centre-back. It was an easy decision when Stuart Webber and Daniel Farke showed their interest. Norwich is a big club, so it is a great step for me. I’m really excited to play for the club.’

Paddy Davitt expects Bali Mumba to be assessed as a first team option once the paperwork is completed.

So that's Sorensen, Mumba, Tettey, Sitti, Vrancic, Trybull, Thompson, Leitner and McLean competing for two first team positions. Rupp also an option there.

My suspicious is Thompson and Leitner leaving, but that still leaves 7-8 players competing for two spots. Sorensen can play CB, Rupp & Vrancic in slightly more advanced roles, but that's still a lot of midfield competition. Perhaps an unexpected departure from this area of the pitch? In terms of what Sorensen offers, his high number of interceptions and general defensive awareness would suggest he could be direct competition for Trybull, but it also sounds like Sorensen can tackle.

Add 1 more to that list with the announced signing of Sorensen today.

Sorensen sounds like the physical midfielder we have been missing a bit this season, perhaps the long term replacement for Tettey. A defensive midfield who can also play centre back with the ability to play out of defenders, at 6ft he should also add a bit of height to the side.

Based on transfermarkt data, he's taller than Tettey, Trybull, Thompson, Rupp, Sitti, McLean, Leitner.

Stiepermann, Vrancic and Sinani are slightly taller. As are our GK and CBs.

Interesting to read in his interview with the club that he's been watching NCFC games for a while, and mentions the Man City game in particular. Now that's a game many people might watch regardless, but it does suggest the club have been after him for a while.

Statistical insight into our new signing. Although I'm not sure what the scores relate to, league average maybe? Tackling a strong point, and comfortable progressing the ball himself rather than necessarily progressive passing. Although his highlights reel showed he's capable of a good long ball. Ball retention perhaps a worry, but we'd said that about Tettey for 6 years before Farke got hold of him. That's also somewhat related to the team around him.

Not on this, but apparently also strong in the air.

This looks to be a good signing - we could do with a Viking in front of the defence!

Speaking of Vikings, Thorvaldsson has been loaned to St Mirren for the season. Would be great if he can get some significant gametime there. Judging by the players we've sent to Scotland in recent years, it seems like the club consider it an opportunity around lower League 1 level, but with the potential for big games. Morris did ok there and moved on to League 1, Bloomfield did less well then went to League 2.

And Steen Nedergaard, Matthias Svensson and Ronny Jonsson (?)
EF, SN and MS were all good servants of the club, RJ was a waste of space, as I recall.

Just looking at Danes, the official website lists these:

"Sorensen will follow in the footsteps of fellow countrymen Steen Nedergaard, Jens Berthel Askou, Thomas Helveg, Henrik Mortensen, Jan Molby and David Nielsen, who have all also represented City."

As for Jonsson, he had some success, but struggled in a team which was struggling to make an impact in the PL. He was certainly a battler, unusual in a winger, and made a contribution.

Clearly SW and DF see DM as key area with Sørensen, Sitti and Mumba already signed. That Sørensen can also play as a CB is a huge bonus. He's left footed as well, which adds to DF's options on the left side of midfield as well as in defence.

Apparently Placheta had his NCFC medical yesterday, contractual formalities to be confirmed today. It'll be a club record fee for the selling club.

Pinkun reporting that NCFC scouts have been seen keeping an eye on the "Belgian Kante", 19 year old Brandon Baiye who plays in Ligue 2.

Meanwhile Sean Raggett apparently has no idea if he's an NCFC player or not, having not spoken to the club since before lockdown. The deadline has expired for taking up our option on him, but nothing has been said. So Raggett thinks he's a free agent, but isn't sure...

Jaiyesimi is apparently looking at a return to football with Swindon, after NCFC released him.

Meanwhile, a collective delusion appears to have struck Stoke fans, with Lewis linked for £10m...

I think they need a reality check

I don’t think Mumba has signed yet, but the pictures of him and the young lad from Arsenal yesterday in the City would suggest it should be fairly imminent.
